I am trying to get a studio for Nov. 28 - Dec. 3 and am a non-DVC member. I was talking to someone who was willing to rent me points, but he says no studios are available at this time. I then called Disney to get info on Moderates to compare my options. When I told clerk that I really needed a fridge, she asked if I have considered a home away from home. According to her, studios are availabe for these dates. How does reservations work? Who has priority? I'm new at this and am clueless. Any info would be greatly appreciated

Dvc owns 95% of rooms 5% of them are (home away from home) hotel rooms at open rack rates..

Sorry I could not help you

I did how ever recall reverations and ask some questions

IF central reservations have the beginning day they can book the time frame as a whole..

DVC reservation can not do this

Good luck

All of the rooms available for a points reservation for your dates are booked. The dates you have chosen are very, very popular with DVC members. Most space is booked as soon as members may call for a reservation - 11 months ahead of time. That is why there is no availability for the membr to rent you points.

As mentioned, Disney retains a small percentage of each resort. These rooms may be rented to non-members by CRO for cash. Also, if DVC members use their DVC points for a non-DVC option, DVC trades the equivalent number of room nights to CRO for cash.

Anyway, the group of rooms available for cash is separate from the group of rooms available for points. It is often the case that there are rooms available for points and not for cash as well as vice versa.

HTH you understand.

Best wishes -

I am new to this, so I am certainly not an expert. Based on recent experience OKW seems the easiest to get. I just canceled a cash ressie for 2 nights in Dec. (Had a 1bedroom, but upgraded to a 2 bedroom.) Good luck.
