I think I may have posted this before, but I cannot find the thread, so I will try it now:

Has anyone been successful in the roommate matching notification area? I am due to arrive on 1/26/11, and opted into it many weeks ago, and heard nothing. While I understand that some dates are not eligible for this, I am confused because my arrival date contains a huge amount of people on that day...170 or something like that, according to the facebook page. So why, with that many people arriving, did I not receive a roommate? I would think that with an amount of that size, Disney would have been able to put more than a few matches together by now. Any ideas? I almost suspect that people were not matched because Disney had some type of unexpected overflow in January arrivals, obviously the reason for the recent emails requesting people to push back their dates to Feb.! I wonder if they did not want to match people prematurely, hoping that some would delay their arrivals?

they limit the matches for each day too.

If they opened it up to everyone, then it would be impossible for someone to break a match and then ask to be matched with someone else.

If your date is eligible, I'm sure there are people who are matched. If someone decides that whomever they are matched with is a freakshow or they can't go any longer, you'd still be in the running to be paired up.

The website also says that not everyone will get matched up and that it's mostly the luck of the draw. It took about two weeks then I was matched up for a few hours before the person I was matched with unmatched us. I guess she already had roommates and didn't mean to opt into roommate matching because she never said a word to me. I've also read blogs of former CPs and several guys have said that they treat roommates like locations and they don't want to know until they get there so they get matched up by the people at check-in.

Thanks, everyone, for the input. At this point, I think I will simply show up, submit my preferences, and hope for the best. If I knew that it was this much of an issue to secure a roommate, I would not have bothered with either Facebook or the roommate matching system. I was hoping that I could connect with someone and get a feel for the situation, but I guess that is not going to happen. Nonetheless, I am excited to arrive, and will continue to remain so!

You and me both. :upsidedow

I have the same situation going on. I have been trying to get matched with a roommate since my acceptance in October, with no notification. I feel very unprepared because most of the people with our arrival date have either known about this forum or the face book page for awhile. I just found them last night. Anyway what type of room mate are you looking for. I am a male 1/26-8/12 spring advantage, over 21. Don't know if that helps you out at all or not.

I know it may seem that way, but most people really aren't aware of either. everything you need to prepare should be on the official site.

these unoffiical sites things are full or rumors and speculation. really a good place to spend time on and maybe hear a few testimonials about roles (which should be taken lightly as locations vary) and stuff to pack and stuff to do.

you'll be OK. stick with the official site for info and come to these places for entertainment

Thanks, I appreciate the encouragement! Its becoming real to me in the final countdown.

I am a female 1/26-6/3, so no roommate potential here, based on dates and gender! Thanks for asking though. Also, khancock's post is absolutely correct: although this forum (and FB) are friendly and helpful, the Disney website is pretty thorough as far as details and explanations. You will be fine if you are on board with that info. I think it is natural to want to reach out and potentially establish a social net before arriving, but without a roommate match, the only thing you can do is show up and be yourself. That's my plan:)

I know there are other girls still looking for roommates on the FB page. Just go in to the discussion part and there is a thread on there for that arrival date. I know my roommate and I found each other on FB and then when the notification thing opened on the Disney website we put each other's applicant number in on there and manually matched ourselves.
