Just curious how roomie assignments are handled since my son reports in a couple of weeks for the CP.

Say you get an apartment with 6 people. Do they assign, for instance, (completely fictitious names here of course) Goofy and Donald to bedroom A, Mickey and Stitch to bedroom B, and Captain Hook and Smee to bedroom C? Or do they say....you 6 are in apartment #55555 - you decide who will share bedrooms?

Thanks for the info.

Its the second one. They will give him his apartment number and key and when he gets there, he can choose his own bedroom/bed or wait for all of his roommates to arrive and then they can decided between themselves who gets which bed/bedroom. He won't know who his roommates are until they arrive at the apartment unless he meets them by chance in line.

What she said above is quite true..
But there are several ways to get your roommate
1. sign up for roommate notification and recieve a name and email of a roommate ( so you can discuss apt size, and who is bringing the TV ect.
2. Find a roommate on your own ( from School, DisBoards, Facebook) then put their code into the notification systerm.
3. show up at check in, and tell them your preferance for complex 9 patterson, Vista, or Chatham) and size 1-2, or 3-4 bedrooms and then they will place you in a room. And your roommates will have done options 1-3 either.

So if 4 out of 5 did options 1 or 2 you will be left to room with the last remaining roommate/room. HTF.

Roommates are assigned by arrival and departure dates. They like to have an apartment cleared out at the same time, so that they can clean it and get it ready for the next group. When I checked in, they took my bags for me and had me sit out on the picnic tables to complete paperwork. I sat with a group that had arrived when I did, and we all chatted and completed it together. When I walked into the check-in room and handed over my paperwork, they noticed that the gal standing next to me had the same check-out date. They asked if we'd like to room together. We'd only known each other a few minutes, but we agreed and that was that. Of course, back then, students had a choice of a wellness apartment. A wellness apartment does not allow alcohol or tobacco. But in recent years, the program changed that policy so that anyone under 21 is automatically placed in a wellness apartment. So your son's age and his arrival/departure date will have everything to do with whom he's roomed with.
