ROOMIE Problems?

Is anyone else have problems with the roomate notification? I login and set it up, and it says it will E-mail me, but never does. I am checking in Aug 12th and would like to meet someone, or at least get to know someone before hand...

It doesn't sound like this is really a "problem". It will email you if and when you are matched.

There really isn't anything for it to email you about until that happens.

Check with wdw.college.techsupport@disney.com to be certain.

I understand that.. it is just i'm starting to worry becuase my check in date is Aug 11..doesn't give me much time to start talking with anyone.

Lilbugger, I'm checking in on Aug 12th and it's giving me trouble, too. One day it will say that my arrival date is ineligible, another it will say that they just haven't matched me up yet. For a while it said that I had a roommate, but now it's saying I don't. So I don't know if she opted out (we didn't want to live in the same complex) or if it's just another glitch. Extremely frustrating. I'm about ready to opt out altogether and just take my chances on meeting someone in line at check-in.

Thanks..Glad to know that is not just me. Mabye it is just the system and they are trying to work through it. I e-mail the tech today, we'll see if i get anything back..But might just have to do it as i walk in as well..Make it a little bit more exciting!!

That's kind of what I thought, too! Plus, at least this way I'll get to base my roommate choice on some sort of immediate first impression kind of thing, instead of it being totally random.

Hey! I used the roommate notification also. I was getting nervous about not getting an email so I logged back on to the roommate notification website and there was the information about my roommate ie: Name and email address. I don't know if you tried doing that yet, but that's how I found out I had a roommate.

However I am now having a problem getting ahold of this person. So I don't know if I'm going to check that I don't want to be roommates or not. I mean I don't want to be rude, but I did this hoping that I would know a little something about my roommate before we check in next month! Also because I would like to know what her prefernces are with rooms and number of roommates because if they differ then we will both not be happy living down there. This part has been the most frusterating, I'm wondering if it would just be better to get down there and be randomly assigned a roommate.

I thought you just get too pick once your down there?

Not always. It is possible to be assigned 1 roomie before check-in.

When I had my CP spring 2008 I was going to do roomie notif. but I ended up finding my CP group on facebook and found a roomie from Pittsburgh (same city as me) and we ended up being roomies. We had also friended other girls from the fb group and wanted to room with them as well in a 2br or 3br but when we asked in line at vista they told us no and held the other 2 aside and took the 2 girls in front of us and 2 behind us and they became our roomies so just a heads up if you wanted to room with multiple people!!

i found the girl i am going to be rooming with on facebook, then we made it official on the notification process thing. ha ha. (my mind is mush today) its nice because we are from the same county, and have gotten to hang out a few times already(we did this so we could see if we were compatible). i am glad about this

so are you guys glad you used Disney's roommate system? I mean I'm not finding anyone to room with yet cause I'm kind of late in the ball game with all this so I figure I'm going to end up with some random person anyway. Did they have you fill out a survey for compatibility or anything?

I didn't "officially" use the roomate notification system (I found my roomie on my own), but I am glad I know who my roomate is. But going with a random roomate isn't always a bad thing (that's what I did for 3 of my CPs).

It's not really much of a survey. They put people together based on gender, check-in/out dates, and age (if you are under 21, or 21+).

yeah I totally did the notification thing like a week or two ago and my checkin is on August 10th so if you are late August there should still be slots open.

Like Joana said it's not a survey. It just looks at your checkin dates, age, and gender and then looks through the system. I got an email the next morning (7hrs later) telling me I had a roommate.

I signed in, got her name and email address and now we've talked about where we want to live whose bringing the TV, dvd player, kitchen supplies, etc. It's great.

Hey Irishbay13, I understand your dilema. I myself just reset my roommate notification because the girl wasn't emailing me back! I'm gonna be there Aug 10th. What's your check in date. I'm still looking for a roomie!

I just did the roommate thing yesterday, so hopefully I hear something soon. Thus far it says there's no one available for my date. Kind of a pain but all part of the experience
