We are planning to go the first week in Dec and as of today there are no more 1 bedroom suites in the bay lake tower at contemporary. I am so bummed and now a bit worried about crowds. I weighed the options between the end of Jan and the first week in Dec and although crowds are a bit more they are still low I've researched and talked to people who have been there that week and said it was fine. When we went before we went last couple days of Feb and into March it was a ZOO so crowded. But we still managed to get that room type just a few months before going. Is this just a popular hotel or does this indicate its going to be a night mare regarding crowds. There are rooms left at the main building but its a of course a lot more. We want to be able to walk to MK.

The first week in December is the cheapest time for DVC members to use points. It has become very popular. Why not try VWL?

What is VWL? Someone just told me to Contemporary is a lot smaller than the others too so that makes sense. But of course suites are all booked at Grand FL and Poly.

The Villas of Wilderness Lodge

Okay, now I'm confused. Are you trying to get a 1-bedroom DVC villa? Or a suite? Because the villas at the Poly haven't even been built yet.

Are you trying to book a villa through the DVC Member Services/member website, or through Disney's Central Reservations Office/disneyworld.com?

At any given time, a certain number of villas are allocated to be booked by DVC members, and a certain number are allocated to be booked through Disney's CRO. The ones for DVC members can be sold out while some are still available through CRO, and vice versa.

You're 8 1/2 months out, so a member would have to have BLT as his/her home resort in order to book through Member Services at this time.

Maybe you know all this...

No we wanted a one bedroom suite at the bay lake towers. Booking like a normal magic way package. Not part of any time share owner thing. I am partial to Contemporary because we can walk to MK and we loved that last time.

Go on the DVC boards and find someone selling points and have them check availability. We booked a 1br through a DVC owner at BLT for mid-September. Great experience! My parents went the first week of Dec last year and they said it was busier than Presidents weekend in Feb:(

I am assuming you are talking a one bedroom villa at BLT? The suites are only at the contemporary.

Not sure that suggesting points rental to the OP is something she would ultimately appreciate....

Are you trying for a suite at the contemporary or a villa a blt? They are different. The contemporary may be sold out but there may be availability at blt about six month before after DVC members get their chance to book or if they have one booked at 11 months switch to somewhere else.

DVC owners at BLT can book 11 months ahead of the dates. It is also the lowest point time so many DVC owners go during the first week in Dec. We own there and have had problems booking that week before. It is still one of the most popular place to book.

I would try VWL as well. Or try the suites within the hotels like CR or WL if you want to be near MK

Bay Lake Towers is a Disney timeshare building. There are very few rooms in the regular inventory, and they are villas, not suites. Suites have no kitchen and a higher occupancy. If you managed to book a BLT 1 bedroom villa before through Disney reservations then you got extremely lucky, as they are primarily for timeshare owners.

Well Villa/Suite whatever they are. We want a 1 bedroom something. And yes we did stay in the Bay lake tower last Feb and we booked our hotel only a few months before we went and I think I literally got the last one because our friends tried right after and there were no more. I am thinking we are just going to go with a suite at the main building despite the cost. They look super nice and we just dont want to give up the walk to MK. To be able to walk to days to a park rather than use the transportation is really nice. We really enjoyed that last year.

December is very busy for DVC, you may have to rent points from a member to stay there.

We have a BLT contract so I'm able to login to the DVC Member site and look at availability 11 months out. The first week of December has very few days open here and there, the most is 4 nights in a row in a Lake View room that week. David's DVC Rentals is wonderful and you could always request with them and see if it comes through.

I'm not sure why you would book directly with Disney at twice the price of renting points for the same room.

We did a cash reservation at BLT because we needed the ability to cancel if we were unable to go up to 5 days before (we did room only, not a package which has different cancellation terms). While renting points was definitely less expensive, if we had to cancel and lose the entire amount, that would have been worse.
