Room upgrades... HELP!!

My boyfriend and I booked our reservation for POFQ through disney online. we just got the standard (cheapest) room. But I'd actually like something better than a parking lot view. Should I call/fax/wait until check in???? I don't want to look like an amateur when I make my upgrade request. HELP!!

We had a water view a few years ago at PO-FQ and didn't think it was worth the extra cost. A standard view could be a very nice courtyard view and not a parking lot view. Even if you have a parking lot view, there are a lot of trees and other greenery around the units to block the parking lot.

At the moderates, standard view also includes courtyard views so there's nothing wrong asking for that, it wouldn't be an upgrade. Water view really isn't a big deal at the moderates since you don't have a private porch or balcony.

I wouldn't sweat the view, we had a parking lot view our first two stays at mods. No big deal, there is no balcony so it's not like you pull up a chair and stare out the window. As others have stated it's very nicely landscaped. I preferred the "cheap" view, it was quieter with less traffic walking by the window. More importantly I wanted the 2nd floor, very quiet and private.
