Room Tax Going Up

The Orange County Commissioners just passed a 1% increase in the Lodging Tax, raising it from 5% to 6% effective September 1, 2006 This means that the total tax charged on rooms will go up from 11.5% to 12.5% at all the WDW Resorts except the All Stars where it will remain at 13%.

I have no idea what will happen to current reservations, especially packages which may have already been paid in full. But I imagine all new reservations for on/after September 1 will have the new rates.

We'll be there in August, so we avoid the what... $10 increase to our ressie.

For packages that have been paid in full, I doubt the increase will be added since taxes have already been paid.

Guess the price of everything is going up these days! 1% is not that much of a difference really. Oh well, still will go to Disney regardless!!!!

I have two reservations for this fall, one in november and one in december. They are also paid off completely, so it makes me wonder if anything else would be added. Technically, we have already 'bought' the reservation, right? Oh, well, it won't be that much if they do tack on the increase.

OF COURSE they did. We are travelling in October. The trip isn't completely paid off AND I am looking into joining AAA for the discount. Which means that I may have to cancel my current booking and make another one through AAA. In that case, I will definately see the increase on my trip.
