So my brother, sister in law, and two girls (9, and 4).... are planning to go to Disney.

Do you think a studio is too small? I read somewhere that some studios might be a bigger size....

If it was your family going what size room would you get for them?

It depends upon what amenities they want. Will they want in room laundry facilities, or is using a community laundry room OK? Will they want to prepare meals i the room, or are restaurant people? do they want a separate bedroom for the adults, or are they comfortable sharing?

If they are comfortable in a traditional hotel room, a studio will be fine. The biggest diffeence between studios is that OKW has 2 real queen beds in all studios. All other locations have a queen bed and pull out full sized sleeper sofa. All studios have kitchettes for quick meals.

One bedrooms have full kitchens, a king bed in the master bedroom and sleeper sofas in the main living room area. They also have washers and dryers in the room.

It all depends upon their needs and comfort levels.

If they need the kitchen and washer/dryer, I'd recommend a one bedroom, however if it were me giving it as a gift on my points, I think a studio is plenty generous enough, and plenty of room. We've stayed in a studio with our two kids at their then age of 13.

Here are the room sizes as currently published by DVC:

Wow thanks Mike... that is a good chart to know....

It was funny I was in SSR, 5/22-5/27... and I thought the room was smalled then BCV... and you just proved it

Mike,

I'd question BWV numbers in your table. I've heard about a handful of oversized rooms, but the basic rooms seem about the same size as VWL/BCV/etc. Allearsnet.com lists the BWV studio/1BR/2BR/GV as 359/712/1071/2142 sq feet. That seems much more realistic to me.

I think it is interesting that on the chart the OKW room size for a 2 bedroom is larger than a studio + one bedroom, considering that many of the 2 bedrooms at OKW are lock-offs.

390+942=1332 Where did the extra 63 sq ft come from?

Read my signature block to get my answer to this question. ;)

I didn't come up with these numbers -- DVC did. These are the numbers that are published on the DVC web site as well as the Dreams book.

I never doubted that, we all know how consistently inconsistent DVC can be. ;)

I wonder if these may be the "smallest" room sizes at a given resort, and others are showing averages?
