Room size for family of four

I've looked at the pictures of the cabins and am still not certain what room size we need. We are two adults and two children, one 12 and one 10. We will be going on this cruise next summer or fall and as far as I can tell won't be spending a lot of time in the room. I like the looks of the navigator's veranda but I'm afraid it's too small. What is the highest category that will hold four people? One bath is fine. Any ideas?

If you want a verandah, you will need to book Category 6 or higher. The Category 7 (Navigator's verandah) will only accommodate 3 people.

The other staterooms (Categories 8-12) do not have verandahs. The only category that won't accommodate 4 people is Cat 12. The least expensive stateroom for 4 people is Category 11.

The Category 7 Navigator's Verandah rooms hold a maximum of three. All of the other staterooms are essentially the same size, except of course for the suites. Non-suite cabins that hold four are available in Categories 4-6 and 8-11.

We are a family of 4 who went on our first cruise in June 2002, stayed in Cat.9 room with porthole and this was very nice, still had the view without the expense of verandah and the DD11 and DS15, DH and myself were very comfortable with. It had the split bath and was still very roomy for the 4 of us to move around the room even with the bunk bed pulled down of a night. The window was great to just sit and look or to check and see where we were and to see the islands when we docked. I don't think you could go wrong with one of these.

Thanks for replying to my post - but I decided to just take the plunge and try for a quote with DreamsUnlimited. I asked for a stateroom with a porthole (thought verandah would be too much) just like you described, patches-4, and guess what!? I got a quote of under $2500 for four people! This includes travel insurance. I couldn't believe it. The ressie is for stateroom 2034 on deck two. Now all I have to do is come up with the deposit and then work like a dog to pay for it. Going June 2003. Tell me this is as good as I think it is! I never really thought we could afford a cruise but I know I can save this between now and April 2003.

One question though, has anyone ever stayed in this stateroom or on this deck? Just curious. Tell me how it was!

We were in room 2500 on our June cruise. Did feel a little motion but most of the time it just rocked us to sleep. If your feeling to much sway just go up on the upper decks and you'll be fine. Dave has a review on his website that rates the different areas on the different floors from when he was on the cruise, maybe that will have something about your room area on it.

on the Magic back in 1999 and decided to move up to a verandah and stayed in 6022 on the Wonder this past December. Both ships are laid out the same.

The very large port hole in 2032 was about 4' x 4' round, and provided nice views of the ocean and islands. Room 6022 was more expensive, and although the verandah was "neat and cool" (according to the kids) we really didn't spend much time out on it.

There was one thing that bothered us with 2032, and that was that you are right below the dance club, and can hear the vibrations of the music and dance until about 1 a.m. or so. With a 5 and 6 year old at the time, we were usually trying to go to bed around 10 p.m. or so, and then bam..... at 11 p.m. the music and dancing started above. Although the room was a very nice room that I'm sure you will enjoy, I would consider moving back towards the middle of the ship if you think the club music and dancing from above would be bothersome.

No matter what though, enjoy!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Cruisinqueen, we are going on the Wonder for a three day cruise. Just getting our feet "wet".
Firemanmark - do you think we'll have the same problem with our room? It doesn't look like it's beneath the dance club on those diagrams - but who can really make heads or tails of those!LOL
This is our first cruise and I'm sure we'll be either so busy we just collapse or up too late to care. I will keep your advice in mind though. If DH thinks it will be a problem we'll try to change.

I'm really excited today as I made the deposit. Brings it closer to reality.
