Room Service Wine

I would like to have a bottle of red wine delivered to my fathers stateroom on our December cruise. Can anyone suggest a good red wine that isn't going to cost an arm and a leg? Thanks!

Depends on what he likes....

A nice red is the Rosemount Shiraz..... I think it's around $31.

Another is the Robert Mondavi Cabernet......

I'll give you a tip...do not ask your asst. server...ours was wonderful, wines I was perfectly satisified with before his recommendations I now find barely drinkable...I brought 4 bottles on board, managed to break the corkscrew from room service...DH had to take the bottle w/ broken corkscrew up to the bar...next time I'm buying the wine package...the premium one, and IF there are any bottles left over I'm taking the Fairy Tale Cuvee Champagne home for special occasions. I love Delicato Shiraz for a red, but don't think the ship carries it...wonderful wine, has won lots of wine competitions, and cheap...what I drink at home.

Delicato does make some very drinkable wines......but I don't think they are high enough on the status chain to make the wine list. Their winery is about 50 miles from here.
