We just booked our first Disney cruise for April - very excited! 5-night Bahamian cruise on the Magic with our 4yo, 1yo, and all 4 grandparents.

1) Which meals would you recommend for room service? (We booked a 1br concierge suite, so we can order food from the dining rooms in our room...thinking that might be easier with the 1yo than going to the dining room!)

2) Which meals have to be had in the dining rooms and why? (Characters coming around to tables, stuff like that)

3) Can our whole party order room service to our room, even if the grandparents aren’t staying in the room and aren’t in concierge rooms? (Maybe the answer is different if you order from the room service menu vs the dining room menu)

I think it might be easier to eat some meals in our room, particularly because we can get some food quickly at the concierge lounge, but I don’t want to miss out on anything in the dining rooms that would make it really special on a given night.

Any food advice would be much appreciated!!

Well, Animator's Palate has a show. Not sure a 1 year old would appreciate it, though. Actually there are 2 different shows in there (depending on how the cruise is).

Can't say about the new Rapunzel dining room, but I'm going to hazard a guess that there will be some sort of show there, also one night.

There's also the Character Breakfast (on some cruises). They have either Disney Jr characters or the Fab 4 (or 5), depending on the ship/itinerary.

I didn't even realize that our ship would have a new Rapunzel dining room until you mentioned it!! My 4yo daughter is SO EXCITED for this already!! Thank you!

Can't everyone order room service? That isn't specific to concierge?
Yes, there's "regular" room service that all rooms can order. Some concierge rooms can also do "room service" ordering dinner from the MDRs.

From what I understand, everyone can order the standard room service. All concierge rooms can also order food from the dining rooms. The top two levels of concierge (the 2br and royal concierge suites) can also order room service from Palo (or the premium restaurants on other ships).

So my first question was less about concierge and more about are there any meals in the dining rooms that we should definitely do in the dining rooms - anything that doesn’t have to do with the quality of the food, since we can get that in our room. I didn’t know about the Rapunzel dining hall, but we definitely want to do that, and the Animator’s Palette also seems fun.

The second question was more about are we able to order room service from the dining rooms for people who aren’t in concierge rooms...but since we can order as much food as we’d like, I guess that isn’t really a problem now that I think about it. I could just order 4 entrees, all technically for me, but then just share them with my family members who are joining us in our room for dinner. We have a large verandah, so I thought it might be nice to have a meal out there with everyone. Perhaps lunch or breakfast is a better option if we don’t want to miss the dining rooms!
