room requests... when and how?

How far in advance should I make a room request? And... what's the best way to do this? Call or email? Direct to the resort? Help - we've never done this before, but we're staying at AKV and it sounds like room location is really important there....

Should be as soon as you make your reservation. I think the "room scheduler" sets rooms about 30 days out. Otherwise, I'd call in to DVC MS with the request to make sure the MS agent understands your request properly.

Yes, I would call DVC Member Services now and make the room request. As always, Disney will note the request and do the best they can but they will not guarantee the request.

I don't think 30 days is correct, I've heard 2 or 3 days, or even just the night before. Sometimes DVC uses "room ready" where rooms are not assigned until you check-in.

In any case, requests should be made through member services. DVC has asked that members do not call or fax the resort directly.
