Room Requests - Touring Plans

I can’t seem to get Touring Plans to show their recommended rooms for Beach Club Villas. I go to the right page that shows the map of the BCV with the drop down menu of choices, Type of Room, Distance from Transportation, Floor, etc. But no matter what I pick, the page reloades and under the drawing of the BCV, where it says Touring Plans Room Requests it stays blank, with no room numbers listed.
Untick the TP picks box.

I'll be sure to include extra notes and a range of rooms instead of just the one default. I wasn't sure if this would help or hurt my chances but it sounds like it will help!
This is their default already. A range of rooms that match each other, or closely match each other. It does not list a single room unless the room you want is the only one of it's kind. Not sure that's possible for any but the named suites but who knows, with so many rooms there may be 1 of a particular standard room somewhere.

I must have picked it because mine originally only had one room in the subject 🤣

Do the TP room requests actually work as much as any other room request or is it better to just call up the resort? If anyone has any first hand experience with using TP room requests, that would be great!

In short, No. Have tried twice. We were given a room at Bay Lake a floor above the room we requested, and this past April at OKW, the building we requested was closed for renovations.

I request general area instead of an exact room. That way the chance is better you get area. They might not know why you chose a specific room

How does that translate to No, it does not work as much as any other room request?
The building was closed for goodness sake. How could you get your request? If you'd put it in any other way it wouldn't have worked either.
A floor above the room may well fit within the parameters of what you requested. If it faced the same direction and was roughly the same walk from the lobby, transportation, etc.

To point out since this will come up again and again, TP does not list a specific room
It lists a range of rooms with equate to a general area/direction facing. Giving them things like, which way you want to look out, how far from lobby, transportation, etc.
This is samples of the way every request I've ever done is written. There have always been multiple examples given by default.
Bldg Gran Destino Tower,Flr 12,NW-facing room.Exmple:9246,9244,9248,9242,9250
Bldg Disney's BoardWalk Inn,Flr 4,NW-facing room.Exmple:4237,4235,4239,4241

That's odd. Care to share what room it was? I'd like to see what comes up. Over the years I've learned to translate their shorthand.

People probably think it's one room, because that's how it looks on the dashboard.

Right. It looks like it does, as it says "Requesting Room: XXXX" in your plans IF you use the room view to populate that field. But if you drill down you see this.

This is our actually request for next month.

"Bldg Disney's BoardWalk Villas South Building,Flr 1,SE-facing room.Exmple:1083"

It looks like if you click on an exact room via the room views to populate the request it sets example to a single unit, the one you clicked on.

No, the above is exactly what I get when I enter a click on a specific room. It populates with general info and several rooms. I copied the ones in my post you quoted right off the fax for our two upcoming stays. It goes further to say.

For our upcoming stay, I would like to request this type of room:

Note it doesn't say this specific room but type of room (the bold is theirs, not mine)
Maybe Villas are different or something? I never stay in them so never use them for requests

Quite possible. Who knows. We've dug too deep : )

2 out of 3 trips I got almost exactly what I requested. On the 3rd trip,, my request would've been very hard to fill since it was a standard studio at BLT. The second part of our stay that trip was at Boardwalk and we did get near where we requested. I'll definitely still use TP! I will say the one instance where we didn't get what we wanted, I asked the front desk if they had anything else, and they did everything they could to get me in another room but it would have been a wait, which we decided against. Basically, if you don't get what you want, ask what other option you have. You could get lucky. :)

In the past we've been in the vicinity of what we requested (not the exact room --- which we didn't expect at all.) In the past we've actually had the Front Desk mention that it was an "area" we requested. We've gotten things that were close to what we requested which was all we had hoped for.

I’ve used them three times and got the general vicinity that I requested... so I personally think it it’s a good option to try, understanding that nothing is guaranteed. I have had CMs at check-in mention the room request twice out of the three times, so they are seeing them somehow.

Whether or not you get your requests will depend more on what you request than on how you request it. The room assigners will put the same amount of effort into fulfilling your request whether you call, use online check-in, or use Touring Plans.

Some requests are easy to fulfill. For example, requesting "not ground floor." Most of the rooms at the resort will meet that criteria. But, if you ask for "near elevator, pool view, third floor," there might only be a handful of rooms that satisfy all three requests. If you request a specific room number....there's only one room that will fulfill your request, and you also need the room to be unoccupied on the day you check in. See how the odds get slimmer?

Just a note, if you don’t get what you request, it doesn’t hurt to go in person to the front desk and ask for them to look again.

On my last trip, I made only one request, a specific building. I arrived before the room was ready, so the person at the front desk wouldn’t tell me my room number. I understood, and asked if my request had been fulfilled. She checked and said, no. But she could see my request and that it was no problem to move me. I have no idea why I wasn’t given that building originally, (could have been a number of reasons), but I was very thankful I asked and was able to have the request fulfilled.

I was merely responding to the question that was asked. In the past, we've used the service offered by Touring Plans to request a room and no, we did not get the rooms that were requested. We've gotten close but not the exact rooms. I have no issues with that fact but, on our most recent trip had I known the building I was requesting at OKW was going to be closed, I would have requested a different room. We wanted the requested building because of its location to the main building but due to the construction, we were placed further down the road. My fault for not checking ahead of time that buildings were going to be closed at the time of our trip.
