Hello, all! This is my first post at the DIS... I'm planning my very first trip to WDW, and this trip is going to be my honeymoon, so I am very anxious to plan everything perfectly.

Even though we're only staying a few days, I did the math and found that we would save $$ by getting annual passes and using the AP discounts for room-only reservations. We talked with a very nice CM at CRO and got POFQ at the AP rate for Jan. 6-10. We're not picky about the view, didn't ask for water view, but there is one request that is most important -- a king bed.

Well, our confirmation just arrived in the mail this week, and I was a little confused by what it says. Our AP discount is there, the price is what we were quoted (the price for a king bed room), everything looks fine -- except that there's no mention of our request and under "View" it says "Variable."

I've read stories about people not getting their request for a king bed honored and having to shove the beds together every night! We don't want that to happen to us if we can help it. Also we were wondering what happens if our request is denied and we get put in a room with two beds, are we still going to get charged at the king bed rate (yeah, yeah, $10 more per night doesn't seem like a whole lot, but if it's $10 for nothing, we'd like to get it back!)

Any advice/experience/anecdotal wisdom much appreciated!

I would call and confirm that you are booked in a king room. I believe that with a king room you are not guaranteed a particular view, which maybe why it says variable. The way the rate table is setup for POFQ, it has a separate rate for a king room, so I would think that is a guarantee not a request.

Hi Valkyrie,

It costs more for a King Bed room at the moderates. So if you were charged this higher price then you will get the King Bed. I believe what is variable is the view. They cannot garentee both a view and a King Bed. The AP rate for a standard view room non king bed at a moderate during the upcoming value season of Jan 1st through Feb 12th 2003 is $79 a night puls tax. So if you are paying more per night then $79 plux tax make sure you get your King Bed. You should. Hope you have a great trip.
