Just wondering what the odds are of me getting what I requseted @ pop in sept? Has anyone had any luck w/requests? I requested 50's sec top flr facing lake. i am mainly concerned with having a quiet room. Could I call and ask them to add that also, or is that too much??? This will be my first stay at a value and Im concerned about noise....

I've never had a problem getting my requests @ Pop. Both times, we requested lake view, ground floor in 60's or 70's & that is exactly what they gave us. I always call about 10 days ahead to confirm my requests, just in case. ;)

You are greatly narrowing the rooms that will meet your criteria...there only so many rooms that are on the top floor, facing the lake in 50's. But, you may be able to get what you want. I have to say that in all my stays at WDW, about 20+ at this point, my quietest stays have been at POP...and that's 5 stays there. The only quieter stay I've had was when I was at BWV, at the very end of a hall...about a 2 min walk from the elevators. That room was ridiculously quiet.
I have never had a noise issue at POP. I did have a preferred room, in 70's, that was on the ground floor..a lot of foot traffic in that room, with subsequent noise from people just chatting as they walked by.
My best stay at POP?? 60's, bldg 4, 4th floor, facing the lake. It was an incredible room...quiet, short walk to bus/food court, and faced the lake. I just loved it there.

When I was at POP in 05, we didn't request anything--but we got a room by the pool and it was too noisy for us. We requested a change and got it, no problem at all! And that was in July and the place seemed pretty full. Definitely request what you want, but I'd be surprised if they can't get you something you like.

Goofy for Tink,

Since you know the lay of the land at POP can you tell me what might be a good request for the 80's Building. I really want to stay either in the building or next to the building where the Pacman stuff is, because my DS is gaga over Pacman. But we would also love quiet, don't even care if we are far away from food court or buses. Does the 80's building even face the lake?? Any advice? We booked a standard room.

We just got back and were in room 9453. It was in the 80's building with all the pacman stuff, totally quiet, AND was a short walk to the bus stop! We loved the room. We requested quiet, connecting rooms, and that's just what we got (my parents were in 9452). The short walk to the bus stop was a bonus :thumbsup2! BTW-- they were standard rooms, too. --Katie

We've got 50's lakeview both times we requested. Once in May (room ready at 3 pm) and the other time for Thanksgiving week (room ready by noon).

Curious about pool view rooms- Would you say these are more noisy compared to a lake view room?

I am looking to equest 60's building since we are celebrating a birthday of honey who was born in the 60's

Was wondering how noisy can it get if we also requested a ground floor?

PS- we do have a portable noise machine- think that will mute the noise from the pool area?

The last time we were there, we were in the 60's section, ground floor & lake view. It was a great location! :thumbsup2 It was quiet, plus we were right by the lake & just down the hall/sidewalk from the Hippity Dippity pool.

We have made a similar request our two times at Pop (we did say third or fourth floor 50s building C). We actually ended up with the same room both times.

That sounds good. I think I may have them change it from top flr to 3rd or 4th flr.

Being on the ground floor-- what about noise above you?

My luck I'd get the Clampetts overhead with their "cute" children who do no wrong--- afterall- they paid a lot of money for this vacation so the kids can act any way they want-- it IS their vacation too...

my needless worry.

Another question-- do you think first come first serve have priority over requests??

We were on the forth floor so I can't comment on the noise from above. But I can tell you that we heard very little noise from those around us.

My past three stays at Pop, I've requested 50's section, top floor, facing the lake. I always make a note of the requests on my reservation at the time of booking and then send a very politely-worded fax with my request about 5 days before my arrival. My requests have been granted each time. I'm sure it doesn't hurt that I am super excited with a big smile on my face as I get to the check-in counter!

However, I would completely understand if they couldn't accommodate my requests on a future stay, since it is a request and not a guarantee.

It never hurts to try! :teeth:

ETA: All the lakeview rooms I've had at Pop have been super quiet! I love it!

A few pieces of general information:
The more/more specific requests you make, the less likely they are to be met (simple logistics: no requests with a Standard room booked gives the room assigners 60% of the rooms to choose from; Building 6, top floor, next to the elevator, facing the Mickey phone equals just one room, depending if your reservation is Preferred or Standard).
There's no such thing as a lake view at Pop Century :teeth: Request "facing the lake".

Having stayed at Pop many times.. I've never had a noise issue there either.

I was ground floor in the fifties, immediately next to the Jukebox facing the pool - I never heard a thing.

I'd open the door and sure they'd be kids in the pool etc but I honestly didn't hear them in my room.

As for the 80's it's all generally quiet over there - even with the computer pool right there it's just not that noisy (generally speaking).

Hope this helps,

Knox

cmbar...you got some good advice from ekatiel..pretty much what I would have said. There is a small area of 80's the sort of faces towards the lake, but those rooms are the furthest away from the food court/bus stops.

Ok so what area should I request where I am super close to the food court/main pool area. I don't care about noise...just convenience.

I see that each section except the 80's-90's have thier own pool.
which is the Main Pool??

What I have always thought the main pool is is the one right outside of the food court...I might be wrong though. But I would like to be right there...very short walking distance to the pool, food court, and buses.
I have 2 little girls so that is a total of 3 heads of hair to fix each day and sometimes the DH gets bored so he will walk over to the food court and grab some cheese danishes (which by the way are the best ever!) and bring them up to us while we are getting dressed. It helps if we are just right there....I know it's petty but we like it.
