Are you allowed to make room requests, like in the regular resorts? I assume you can ask for non-smoking, but what about other things?

Do all units have balconies? Is one 'location' better than another?

Yes, you can make room requests, although they are not guaranteed. As you do, keep in mind that BCV is not situated where the views are particularly good; some rooms look over the top of Epcot (better view but more chance of road noise) but many others simply look at trees or the quiet pool. Also remember that the more requests you put in, the more likely you are to feel unsatisfied with those that are actually met.

We usually ask for non-smoking, non-handicapped, quiet location. Those tend to net us a high room farther down the hall (but away from elevator and guest noise) that overlooks the woodlands alongside the resort.

As far as I know, all the units have balconies. If any do not, they are very rare.

What do the handicapped units have that the others dont? Are they any larger? Looking for maximum floor space because we will be bringing an Aerobed (maybe 2) for our teenage sons.

The one handicapped room that I stayed in (a studio) had a little larger bathroom with a roll in shower in place of the tub, and if I remember correctly the sink was in the bathroom instead of the double vanity just outside the tub and toilet area in a normal studio.

A far as location it all depends what is important to you. If you'll have a car it might be more convient to be near the parking lot, if you'll be using the buses the other end of the resort is closer.
Personally I prefer being close to the main elevators which puts you closer to the main BC Lobby and the Store.

Opinions vary on how good or bad the views are at BCV. We usually limit requests to non-smoking (for medical reasons).

To get an idea of the layout of BCV, as well as some actual photos of the views from a number of rooms, take a look at http://www.parkinfo2go.com/dvc-bcv/.

We've been put in HA rooms a couple of times now and have started to note on our request that we do not want one of these. They are short on storage space, especially in the (large) bathroom, where there is no place to put out your toiletries. The larger bathroom means that the normal walk-in closet isn't there and they compensate with a larger armorie for the TV, which has side areas for hanging stuff. Unfortunatly, one side is filled with various houskeeping stuff (broom, etc), leaving little room for stuff that needs to be hanged up.

In answer to your question, I don't think there is any more floor space in the HA rooms than the regular ones, possibly less.

Whatever you do don't read my post entitled ROOM READY SYSTEM? :rotfl2: Seriously, there is not a view worth mentioning at BCV. Epcot view for fireworks???? Just had that ,view sucks, except for the brief time at night during fireworks. Other times of the day it is loud with no view at all. Don't sweat the view, honestly, it isn't worth it at BCV. I'd request your smoking preference and top floor (less bugs :rotfl: ) and leave it that. Have agreat trip, I'll be there Feb. 27th.
