We have a 20 days until we check in at POFQ!!! I would like to be close to the food court and bus stop, so I am thinking about calling and requesting to be in building 4. Is this the best location to request? I know the resort is supposed to be small and compact, I just wanted to get a little closer if possible.

What luck have others had getting their requests honored at POFQ? We are going to be in a king bed room if that matters.

Thanks :goodvibes

If you're looking for the closest building to the food court and bus stop, then yes, 4 is your best bet. However, like you mentioned, the resort is so small that you really aren't that far away no matter where you stay.

I'd make building 5 your 2nd best bet because the closest building in #5 is closer to the food court than the furthest building in #4. Another plus of #5 (as well as #6 and #2) is that you can't really get a parking lot view, which I think is a nice touch.

You're gonna love it there, it's our favorite moderate resort and I can't wait to stay there again.

Bump :goodvibes

We ended up requesting section 4! The CM I spoke with put "section 4, close to bus stop"!

We have 8 days before we leave!! :goodvibes :woohoo::yay:

At POFQ, room requests don't really matter as much as they would at the other resorts.

However, like you we have made requests each year (2) that we've stayed there and gotten them honored. We also had a request honored at POR another time, so we've had success with this each time.

We just booked our first DW trip yesterday!!! We'll be going in August 2012 and are staying at POFQ.
One of the reasons we booked it, was we heard it was nice and small.
Are there any building there we should NOT want to be in? Which building is closest to the pool? They share a pool with POR, right?

Alison

we did NOT get our room request of "building 4 close to the bus stop" in may 2011.

HOWEVER... we did get upgraded free of charge to a first floor water view room in building 1.

We did online check in and I selected the first floor and close to transportation options as well as called multiple times to make sure the building 4 close to the bus stop was noted on the reservation, but alas.

Nope, POFQ has its own pool complete with slide. :thumbsup2 Buildings 2 and 5 are closest to the pool.

There's really no such thing as a bad building at POFQ...the most remote buildings, 1 and 7, also have some truly beautiful river views, are extremely quiet, and still just a few minutes from the main building. People say this all the time, and it's not an understatement...it's a VERY small resort, but it's gorgeous and a joy to walk around. :goodvibes

They share all the pools because they are sister resorts. You can feel free to use the one at POFQ or the six pools at POR (one main and five quiet pools).

For locations of all the buildings relative to each criteria, you can look at the resort map at this site, the POFQ thread, allearsnet, or portorleans.org

My DD has seen pictures of POFQ, and would really like be in a pretty courtyard with a view of a fountain. Any suggestions about where we should request?

This past May we were in a first floor room in Building 2 facing the smaller round fountain (not the frog one).

What's the best place to eat at Port Orleans?

What's the best place to eat at Port Orleans?

There is one food court at POFQ and one at POR (one of the best on property besides Pop).

There is one sit-down restaurant at POR, but it is only open for dinner. For the price, and the amount of food you get, I would suggest going down to one of the places at DTD.

Paradiso 37 is very, very good, with indoor/outdoor seating. Raglan Road is also very good, with evening entertainment.

T-Rex and Rainforest Cafe are expensive, but cool atmosphere.

Fulton's Crab House is expensive, but the meals are wonderful and the view is fantastic (it is on a boat).

For lighter fare, but very good food, I suggest either Wolfgang Puck Express or Earl of Sandwich.

Avoid Captain Jack's at all cost.

Finish out the evening with a sundae at Ghiradelli's.

like others have said, POFQ is small so all the buildings are close to the bus stops~ especially in comparison to other resorts. We've requested building 4 a few times and received it... once we got in 3 instead. Buidling 4 is the closest you can get to the food court and bus stop~ literally right there! But don't worry, if you don't get it, you will still be close. POFQ is small and beautiful~ my family loves it!

I remember reading somewhere on the DIS that since they have been playing movies in one of the courtyards at POFQ that the noise level in that area can be pretty loud in the late evening. Can anyone confirm this?

We'll be staying here in January, and try to get the kids to sleep relatively early to be up for rope drop. I'd hate to have the sound keeping them up.
