Do you have to have a subscription with touring plans to make a room request, or is there another way?

You can make a request through the main reservation line and a CM will add it to your reservation. other than that, if you want Touring Plans to make the request, you have to pay the fee, which isn't bad at all IMO :)

I do not pay for something I can do myself:) I call and add my requests to my reservation and then I will fax a nice request letter to the resort 6 days prior to check-in. I have to disagree with Networth statement on faxing, I have had very good luck after I started following up with a fax. Plus, it takes a few minutes to do it, so why not:) I do believe if you do online check-in, that will trump your verbal requests.

Continue to fax if you wish. I can assure you fax’s are not taken into account 9 times out of 10. They are often simply tossed.

Not to be “mean”, you have to understand the amount of guests that resort back house manages. An extra fax from a guest is not priority and often adds clutter.

My last 3 trips I have done a room request (fax) thru touring plans and got the exact rooms I have requested. I have had great luck with my requests!

Yes, it seems as though people faxing through TP have a high rate of success getting the room they want. I doubt it's coincidental.

That's because Touring Plans doesn't use a fax machine. They send an electronic message that gets into the WDW system. It uses codes and descriptions the system uses. I don't know the exact method, but it's not a fax.

Sounds reasonable to me.

I can't speak for how Touring Plans submits request. If they know the correct codes for LILO, they have a much better chance of getting your request honored.

As opposed to a personal fax i.e 1980's tech.

@lentesta has reported when they're having trouble getting through to certain resort's fax machines, and when the problems are solved. pretty sure they're doing it the old fashioned way.

Interesting. Then I got some bad information from 2 of the room assigners at Beach Club that I was talking to last trip.

It's definitely a fax.

I'd be moderately surprised if Beach Club has as many as 2 room assigners these days.

Most faxes these days go to a dedicated email box and are not the old style where the fax prints out on paper. So while it is a 'fax', on the end user's side, it is just an email with an attachment to look at.

When can you call the main line and make a specific room or accommodation request for a reservation ? Should you do it a few days before, or should I be doing it now for a trip in November/December ?

It most likely is [just] luck. Or coincidence.
Then I guess I should start playing the lotto:) Because I am talking about, at least, our last 10 trips and I got requests that I only put in my fax.

You can do it anytime. Rooms are assigned roughly 5 days out so you need to do it before then, but otherwise it's wide open. For me, I'll do it shortly aftet making a reservation just so I don't forget.

Thanks. Is there a special number to call to ask for it to be added, or just the main reservation number ?
