Room Request Question

Last August when I booked the GCH over the telephone (directly through Disney), I was told that I had "reserved" a particular room type (Queen with bunk beds). When I checked in at the GCH, I was told that I did not have that type of room, and that the Disney Travel Company (or whoever it is that takes reservations for Disney) is a totally different entity, and that whatever they say is meaningless. :confused3

Soo . . . how do I put in a room request that actually shows up at the GCH? Should I call the hotel directly? Can someone clear this up for me? It seems ridiculous that Disney would take reservations through a company and then not honor the promises of that company. ??

Calling the hotel directly is your best bet, but room requests are not guaranteed
We always request a king bed, but have only received it once.

I have never understood why they can't manage to give people the rooms that they book. They know how many of each type they have, why on earth would they not just sell them as ordered? I mean, it's like theatre tickets. If I buy a center orchestra seat I don't discover when I arrive that I'm in the second balcony or off to one side. They sell me a seat and that's that. My hotels can't sell a specific room or even room type is beyond me.

In the movie theater I used to work at, we were told to allow 15 seats to be oversold. Their theory is that some of those people will be late or not show up.

I constantly had to refund angry people's money. They all figured it was my fault.

Anyway, I think it's sorta the same idea. Like..if you show up and someone before you comes in off the street and they can get MORE money for your room from them, they'll give it to them first? No idea for sure but..it's possible.

It's stupid..and doesn't make sense. I reserved a room with 4 queen beds at DI&S. I sure as heck better get it..there's a reason we got it.
