And you will (may?) read that, for example, half the rooms at Pop Century connect. That means half DON'T.
Okay, let's work it out - again, using Pop Century because I know more about that resort than the other values, and last time I stayed in a moderate they didn't have the 'preferred' designation
Ten buildings. By requesting a building you eliminate 90% of the available rooms.
288 rooms per building. Four floors. By requesting a specific floor you eliminate 75% of the remaining choices. Down to 72 rooms.
Half the rooms in each building adjacent to a pool do not face the pool; half do. Now you've eliminated 50% of the remaining options. Down to 36 rooms.
Half the rooms connect, half don't. You've narrowed your request down another 50%. Down to 18 rooms.
You REALLY need to decide which requests are most important, and list them in that order on your reservation.

Honestly, you probly have a 90% chance of getting your request. Usually everytime I have a request it happends. It was only once that they couldnt have my request, since it was around christmas. but I still had a wonderfull time.
I always pay for a preferred room, if I want one, so have never asked for an upgrade. I just want on a certain floor and close to either an elevator or bus stop/food court.
I usually wind up on some middle floor in the back of a resort or if I pay for preferred room, I'm in the last possible room in that section that could still be considered preferred facing a tree or parking lot. I just don't have good luck with room requests. Hey, last Sept I booked and paid for a 'preferred' room at AS Music (requesting bottom floor, close as possible to food court, as usual) and at check in they had us way out in the Broadway section. After I reminded them I had paid for a preferred room, they moved us back up to the Calypso building, but on the end closest to Jazz on the backside, facing the parking lot. Oh, yeah, one more thing. We always check in around 10:00-11:00am, so it's not like we are getting the left over rooms, late at night.Yeah. I've never had any luck with "first or fourth floor" (figuring if I need to use the elevator anyway, I may as well go straight to the top, so nobody's jumping off beds at 5 AM in the room aboveThe only thing I've ever asked for is bottom floor close as possible to bus stop and food court
), so I gave up. Thank you - can you tell I like number?
My ONLY request for my upcoming trip is a king bed. In fact, the CM was surprised I didn't ask for more - but there are 192 (I think) possible rooms if I stick with the one request. If I add a floor, or a building, my options go WAY down.
(never been to Disney thought).
. Anyway I'll see at check-in what happens (and manage to find satisfaction anyhow), I don't stress on this.
Not everyone has as good luck though. I have never (and I mean never and I go three-four times a year) gotten my requests when I first check in. I have the CM note my requests when I make my ressie. I call back about a month before I check in, to make sure it is noted, then I call about a week before I go to again check it is noted, then I call about three days before check in to make sure again that it is still noted. Every time I've checked in, I have never had any of my requests. However, when I check in, I again ask very nicely for what I want and usually have gotten close about 1/3 of the time. The other 2/3's I haven't had any luck. What's funny are my requests are never that detailed. The only thing I've ever asked for is bottom floor close as possible to bus stop and food court if I'm in a Value or Moderate and top floor close to an elevator if I'm in a Deluxe.I always pay for a preferred room, if I want one, so have never asked for an upgrade. I am staying at PORS in Sept and have requested Bayou section, building 14, 15, 18, or 27 bottom floor close as possible to food court and bus stop and had them add it was for medical reason for my 74 y/o diabetic mom with bad knees. I'm expecting a room on the top floor of the last Mansion, but know we'll have a good time regardless of where our room is.
Twice I asked for a balcony at WL, and was denied - and that is something very simple, and most rooms aren't even on the ground floor! One time I did get a request by begging and pleading (nicely) with the check-in CM.
You are good to mentally prepare for a room in nowhereland!
