Room Request Irratation,question & Idea.

We stayed at a 1BR in OKW Dec 9-14. We requested non smoking - got room 1521 -non smoking room. We walked in with our luggage and couldn't breathe - the place smelled like there was more than one smoker there. We checked the door and it specifically stated no smoking. I called housekeeping and they were there in less than a minute they aired out the whole unit and sprayed everywhere. I didn't follow up to see if it was the previous occupant or not.

The smoking/non smoking debate rages on !
my $.02
If anyone smokes in your non smoking room while it is under your control you should pay a cleaning fee !
If you are a smoker and are assigned a non smoking room... tough.

I have heard the same as Debbie mentions,

that WDW fills rooms starting with the oldest

rese's first.

So, the early bird ...

:) :) :)

Was just thinking. Most points seem to go for around $10 per point which is a fair price. I know u said $7 reasonable for this time of year but, i am not sure the time of year will matter, as it costs less points to stay anywhere at lower times. Just a thought. Good luck - old key west is lovely.

I got a helpful hint from MS when making my reservations this last time. I asked for a non-handicap room at OKW and the CM said I would do better to ask for an upper floor. She said that the CMs that look at the reservations are sometimes in a big hurry and misread the request thinking that you want a handicap room.

DVC VWL ...

thank you too for explaining this ......it was something i expected to find out when i first went to the "lobby" when we arrived......but it seemed they were too interested in telling me.....it was my late "booking" that caused the assignment...

not the assigners fault ....but we also did not get the "folder" package from the front desk when we signed in....not really a big deal...but at least, since we do pay for it in our dues ....it would be nice to receive it.....

by the way, was amazed how they split our dues out into the fine details of everything that "costs" but we do not get charged directly for....we pay it in our dues....

Lawgs, you should have received your folder at the front desk. We arrived at BWV on Dec 1. The CM did not give us a folder either. When I specifically asked for one she told me they were out till the next day but I could get one then. True to word they had them the next day and I collected one. Not a problem in my opinion.

jenny, we checked in on Nov 25 too. :D

Since this was our first trip to BWV, I didn't really know what to expect as far as room location...only what I've read here. I thought about requesting, but didn't, a room close to the elevator because of my DD's medical condition (CRMO...bone inflammation), but I felt kind of like you did too...we're already going to be walking around parks all day! We got rooms (2 BR) 5008 and 5010! (5002/5001 being the furthest from the elevators.) Lesson learned.

The only request we did make was "BW View"...didn't get it. But I didn't get off the waitlist till about 4 months before. This year...calling day by day.
