We have a standard view at bwi studio. Wanted to know if anyone has suggestions for room requests. DH smokes, so maybe ground floor so he can get outside. Any help appreciated.

Are you staying at the BWV - Boardwalk Villas, or the BWI - Boardwalk Inn? The BWV standard studios face the parking lot and tennis courts and I don't believe there are any on ground level - they would be on the 3rd floor and higher. Walkout villas only face the gardens and pools as far as I know.

Each BWV unit does have a balcony, or patio however.

I'm also assuming that you meant BWV, not BWI. In any event, I'm not sure a ground floor buys you much. Look at this map for smoking locations at BWV/BWI to see where it might work best.

Thanks! I didn't see a map attached. Could you try again? We stayed at OKW and Poly last time, so there was immediate outside access. This will be the first time inside. I'm not sure how much we will like it!

There is both a first and second floor standard view at BWV. Either will allow your DH easy access to the outside areas where he can smoke. The covered smoking area that is to the left of the entrance towards the conference center is on the same level as the second floor villas, so he will not even need to use the stairs to reach it.

Other non-covered smoking areas are outside each of the exits, so on the first floor, again, he would not need to use the stairs or on the 2nd floor, it would be just a single flight.

He may also be able to leave directly from some first floor patios to reach the smoking areas, but, of course, won't be able to lock the balcony door behind him. From other patios, there is too much vegetation unless he has a machete!

I am sure he is aware that there is no smoking on the patio or balcony.

Best of luck -- Suzanne

That is the room we've had the last 2 stays there. I always request ground floor at the BWV-standard studio. We always seem to get the same area of rooms. HAve to stand on my tiptoes to see over the bushes. Yes, the standard studios do have ground floor access, but some rooms will not let you wander away too far.

Ok, had to go back and verify since this was many years ago, lol. We had a standard view BWV room just to the left of valet(if facing the building). There were definitely no first floor villas however. We were on the second floor facing valet. There are laundry, kitchen areas, etc., and this was actually where they wisked the Soap Stars of ABC inside as I sat out waving and chatting with them, lol. The luggage area was also down there too.

Not sure if there are first floor standard rooms further down from the valet area though. I know there were none under us.

So, let me see if I understand this. The second floor allows for immediate outside access or the ground floor? Any specific area I should request?

The villa we had was on the second floor, with no villas underneath us. This was adjacent to the valet area. Apparently from the other posters, there are standard villas on the ground floor, but I assume they were located further down from us. Hope this helps...

If smoking is your primary purpose, you might want to look at a BWV map and see where the designated smoking areas are and request a room close to that. Or just make your request "close to smoking area". Just "being outside" wont cut it....he will have to physically go to a smoking area outside.

If you go to http://www.wdwinfo.com/resortmaps/, you can click on the BWV map and print it out to see where the designated smoking areas are. It looks to me like they are mostly near the entrances that lead to the pools. There looks like there would be two that are easy access to the standard rooms.
The standard view rooms are going to be the light green, yellow, and dark pink ones that face the bus stop/parking lot.

We just got back from the Boardwalk Villas two weeks ago. We had a preferred view one bedroom so I can't help you with what room to ask for. But we were all the way at the end of the hallway and DH found it very convenient to take the stairs down to a smoking area. He looked at the map they gave us at check in and located a very nice smoking area. At night there was a bunny that would come out to keep him company. He maintained that there were more smoking areas then were indicated on the map. There was a nice one just outside Atlantic Dance on the Boardwalk. You could actually sit on a bench and see the Illuminations higher fireworks.

Have a great trip. We loved the Boardwalk!

Yikes! I forgot to make the attachment!

Here you go...the same map Diane pointed you to:

Can anyone recommend studios in the BWV that will have good viewing of Illuminations from the baclony ?

cheers

are all of those areas connected inside, or do you get to them outside? The one light yellow area seems very far removed from the rest of the resort. Now I can see why everyone says the hallways are so long. Is there just one bus stop outside?

The rooms are all accessed via interior hallways. There is just the one bus stop out front of the BWV and at the rear of the resort there is boat transportation to Epcot and the Studios.

There are first floor villas on the standard view side farther down the hall. When you exit the lobby on the second floor, the driveway goes downhill from there. Also the lawn slopes down so that the first floor rooms closer to the lobby face the slope of the lawn, they are actually a little below ground level. As you move down the driveway toward the pond, the first floor rooms face straight out to the driveway and the second floor are above.

The laundry room was underneath your room, no windows.
