room request for bc

we are staying at the beach club in December and I would like to make a request for a good room. Does anyone have any suggestions? Maybe by the laundry room, or first floor? Also what is the best way to make a room request? I booked my trip through Soutwest Airlines (package) should i go through them, or call (or fax) the Beach Club direct when my trip is a couple weeks away? Just looking for ideas for a good room...
ps, has anyone ever been upgraded at check-in? we originally wanted a 1BR, but had to settle for a studio.

Are you staying at the resort or the villas? I guess I'm just a little confused because you mention that you're in a studio. I found a great site that shows the floor layouts at the BC, along with room numbers. You didn't mention if you had a water or standard view, but these are shown also. As for an upgrade at check-in, it doesn't hurt to ask what else is available. You could get it for a discounted rate or it could be offered at rack rate. Many times a standard view will be upgraded to a water view at no additional charge.
