Room ready changed…

I’m curious to know how many folks were being hosted in what size villa & what sort of vendor one would use, & whether lots of packages had already arrived.
I’ve always been fortunate during my GF stays & never had to wait for my villa to be ready, they did do the early morning housekeeping knocks on check out day, but that hasn’t happened to us recently, maybe those survey responses helped.
All of the CM interactions I’ve had at the VGF have been positive, well except for this guy - he was a bit…different 🤷‍♀️

Only one piece of luggage that had nothing to do with the party, everything else was packed in our suitcase.

The party was Permission for the 2 people that came that weren't already staying there granted before their arrival and the vendor who was a tarot card reader was granted permission as well before his arrival to visit for the day. It consisted of us eating a cake that the GF bakery made for me (another disappointment i won't get into) chatting and going to the balcony for a reading. There were children present and no alcohol being served so no that had nothing to do with anything.

The awful service was throughout the entire stay from the moment we arrived and @muppets3d who was there the same weekend as me (no relation) can vouch for how terrible the service was and how they acted so terrible that he may even sell his contract. It was truly shocking and something ive never experience staying at a Disney hotel.

I know a lot of folks love the cakes, especially the GF bakery ones - but they’re a bit overpriced for what you get for me. I love the idea of a tarot reading on a birthday & that was not on my list of possible vendors - I envisioned caterer or photographer. We’ve never tried to co-ordinate a special event/celebration, so I have no experience w/ CM in that scenario at any of the resorts we’ve stayed at.

I think what bothered me the most about the cake was that they force a room service delivery charge which was outrageous and wouldn't let us pick it up and save like $70 😆 The cake itself was cute, I thought the penmanship could be improved and the flavors were nothing special, but it was custom and it looked like what I envisioned.

The hotel of course is gorgeous and I do want to stay in the og side because I do feel like this could have just been a really bad experience one off. It worked out perfectly with the reader, the balcony was big enough to accommodate him and two people for a reading so he stayed out there and whoever was inclined went when they wanted to. I bought some little decorations on Amazon to compliment the Mary Poppins theme And we hung little hanging clouds from the ceiling and chandelier ☁️ 🌂

Please let us know how it is, I was planning to book February on the og side to see if it's any different, but I know we felt the exact same as you so if it's like that again we will not be staying there

I’ll be in Big Pine Key in July vs the original villas building in January but still, I’ll post a review after the trip.

Whoever is running that hotel is failing miserably it seems.

I have no idea who it is, but the issues at the Grand started a little over a year ago. It used to be top notch, so I’m wondering if it was a change in management. The two best run resorts now (IMO) are Polynesian and Riviera. The GM’s at those resorts are doing a bang up job. The one at the Grand needs to be fired yesterday.

Im going to give it a go in February on the og side if we can get in at the 7 month mark because i really want my opinion to change, but this time I will be asking to speak to management if it's still like this
