Don't you guys think maybe they were waiting for the Aug/Sept free dining offer to close?
We aren't looking for "free" dining we are looking for room only discounts

I know that. It's why I'm subscribed to this thread. I just thought maybe that was still a possiblity.
It seems that maybe they are waiting for the free dining offer to close before the room discount offer starts.. I think you are right!
It isn't necessarily about being able to afford it though... Sometimes it is about bang for the buck. And the reason so many of us expect discounts is because Disney has offered them practically year round for the last decade or so... and raised their rack rates accordingly (Poly rack rate has nearly doubled since '04, for example, and is $200 per night more than the much more luxurious Waldorf at Bonnet Creek).
Disney created this dynamic - rack rate at their resorts is like suggested retail for consumer goods or sticker price on a car, something that only the least savvy/least informed guests pay. And while they might like to get away from that dynamic it isn't going to happen overnight, particularly in a weak economy and with their product priced so significantly above the competition.
Ahhh, you made feel wanted once again..Seriously though, I do know that my taking time off from Disney will not affect them in the least, but I also know that my $$$$ will being going elsewhere and to me, I am taking a miniscule stand, for what it's worth.
And...the method behind my madness (or should I say the madness behind my method) is that with these new targeted discounts, perhaps when the computer notices a once faithful visitor has left the building, perhaps those pins will start showing up once more???![]()
I'm sick and tired of waiting, I have to make dining reservations, make ressies for my dog for a vacation villa at Best Friends and these things all depend on a room only discount, I can afford rack rate but I'm not silly enough to pay it as rooms are way over priced
($400-$500 per night at the Poly is ridiculous) by the time discounts come out I'll have to eat at a food court somewhere and board my dog elsewhere instead of Best Friends. Sorry just had to vent, does anyone agree?
You could always book a room, make your ADRs and your Best Friends reservation, and then cancel your room if no discount comes out and you book elsewhere. Your ADRs and Best Friends reservations aren't tied to your room after the 180 days passes.
That's correct - your ADRs will not be cancelled. They are tied to your phone number, not your room reservation, since off-site guests can make ADRs too (just not the 180+10).OK - just want to be sure I get what you are saying: We have a room booked onsite for our trip in Dec. I made all my dining reservations a while back. If I decided to cancel our onsite room to stay offsite my dining reservations would not be cancelled? Thanks so much.
If the AP dates work for your trip and you just haven't found availability don't give up.
I was finally able to book an AP discount for our entire trip at the WL - courtyard view![]()
Last rumors were the first week of Sept -- which could conceivably be late this week or early next. If it's going to be this week, we should start hearing rumors of Overtime.
We shall see.
Been off the disboards for a couple of weeks (daughter got married out of state). I'm looking for discounts for May/June, 2012. What dates were rumored to be covered?
