Since WDW pre assigns your room - If I were to call them (the front desk at YC), would they be able to give me my room number. Not that it matter, but just wondering.

They are preassigned from everything I've seen but will not give them out until you check in since it is possible that you could be reassigned based on when you check in and when your room is ready.

they block the rooms three days ahead. they also change the roms when you check in if you are not happy with their choice.

Sorry, they never give out room numbers in advance. They won't even give it to you at check-in if the room isn't cleaned and ready to be occupied.

They will not be able to give you a room assignment until the day you check in and the room is ready.

Also, while they may "preassign" rooms, they are also able to change things for guests at check in. When my mother and I took our May '07 trip we requested a river view room (paid for a water view which can be pool or the river). They had us in a room that would not meet our requests and the wonderful CM was able to get someone to change it for us at that moment.

As others have said, no you cannot get your actual room number until it's ready. There are just too many tangents that could happen.

1) Besides, if you didn't liek the room number, you would ask for a new one.
2) And stay on the line for a long time until you found one you liked.
3) So would a lot of other people.
4) Think of the added manpower that would take.

We found this out when we checked in at CSR last year. The room wasn't quite ready yet but the CM accidentally wrote the room number on the map he was giving me. Then he realized his mistake and crossed it out saying he can't give the room number even if it has been assigned until it is cleaned and released. I happened to see the number when he wrote it and when the room was ready it was the same number he originally wrote down. I just thought it was interesting that he had to go through all the effort to "hide" his mistake.

It is also a safety issue to not give out room numbers over the phone. The same reason they dont verbally tell you your room numeber when you check in, they write it on the map they give you. They also will not tell anyone out sied of your party your room number.

Our personal experience at POR about 4 years ago --

A very large group of teenagers were arriving on our checkout day. They were blocking the path to our car - and we had to excuse ourselves several times to get by with our luggage. On one return trip to get another carload, we were shocked when we witnessed some young girls opening our room with their room key!!!!!!!!! It was only 9 AM! We finished loading the car, and drove immediately to the front desk. We complained that the girls should NOT have had operable room keys when we were not out of the room yet. POR personnel were very kind, apologized, and could not figure out how this mishap could have happened.

Watch your room on checkout day. This could happen to you.

Jeez, I wasn't asking for a sinister reason - I just was wondering - I wanted to take a look and see where it was located....no big whip, no harm, no foul

I'll just wait till tomorrow :rolleyes1

Sometime you can't even post an innocent question without getting jumped on.

Last August we arrived at All star music and checked in early - two parties of 4. Our rooms were not ready but they did tell us that they would be side by side and on the main floor.

Later that day when we called to get the room numbers they gave us one on the main floor facing the center area and one on the second floor facing the parking lot.

I don't know what happend in those few hours but something must have?

Jeez, I wasn't asking for a sinister reason.

1) Not a sinister or snide answer.
2) It was just a statement of fact as one of the reasons for not telling room numbers.
3) Sorry you felt offended - none was intended.

Our sad tale of woe....we checked into BWV on Thanksgiving afternoon. Our villa was ready for us. So, up we went. But, it just wasn't a great room. We paid preferred view points but our view was of a tree from the smaller than usual balcony and of another balcony from our master bedroom window (no balcony off that room, which is unusual). So, dh went downstairs to see if we could change rooms. Came back up with new room keys. Off we went again. Used the room key to get into our new villa....opened the door and found toys everywhere, as well as clothing on the furniture!! Someone was obviously still occupying that villa!! Now, it was 4:00 by now....manager came upstairs with dh...he just couldn't beleive they had given us a villa that was still occupied. Only villas that have been vacated and cleaned are supposed to show as 'open'. But, he found the same thing we did...occupied.
So...off we go to yet a third villa. This one was a huge hike from the elevator but it was available and had a nice view.

So..yeah, it happens. I truly believe it's housekeeping issue though.

I have arrived at the front desk to checkin and been told my room is ready. But, on several occasions, I have asked if a different room might be available, perhaps in an area that I had really hoped for. Usually, I have been given a choice of rooms. I've never been sure if my room of choice took away from another guest. Could be. Those room assignments are not etched in stone, until you check in and get your room keys. Once you have the room key in hand, it's your room. You may not know the room number though, until they clean it. That's why the phone number to call later on.

Why did you feel like you were "getting jumped on"?

I don't want this to turn into a closed thread but I don't feel comfortable with answering a question with "yes" or "no" and not giving a reason for why.
