When we went on the Disney Cruise last year we could use our room keys as a credit card and pay the balance at the front desk. We are staying on sight and I was wondering if we would be able to do the same in the parks?

you can use your room key to charge to your room at most everywhere in the 4 major parks and DTD. you cannot use your room key at most of the quick snack type carts at the parks or at the water parks.

Yes, you can do that onsite as long as you have a credit card.

... or a debit card! :) Or even sufficient traveler's checks or cash to make a "credit balance" at the resort desk (basically you can spend against that credit amount, and anything you don't spend would be refunded to you when you check out).
