Room key as Credit Card?

Do the Universal Resorts use room keys as credit cards in the parks the way Disney does? Do they put a hold on a specific amount at check in?

Yes room keys can be used as credit cards; you sign up for who can use this priviledge. We were asked if we'd be using it much for meals, etc. When we said no, our check in person said he wouldn't put much on ours. We only used it for drinks at the pool.
