Ok so I can't find any threads about this! I entered the lottery and found out that I got a ticket. I was planning on heading down solo this Fall, and want to go...but I'm not sure it's worth all the money. I have until August 7th to decide. Is anyone else going?

If there is a thread about this (somewhere, anywhere) could someone please link me to it?

We entered the lottery and have the option to buy tickets too!! I would love to learn more about the event before spending all the $$$. The merchandise looks great, but there is not much details. Anyone? :hmghost:

I was wait-listed for this event. I have something else I'm supposed to attend the same weekend so I'm not too upset about not getting in. Past HM events were longer and probably more worth the $$. The way I see it you are paying $285 for dinner & a seminar with a few imagineers.

For comparative purposes there is a Harry Potter event being held at Universal Studios that will cost $699 for 4 nights hotel, a three day park hopper, a seminar session, early entry to the Wizarding World, a commemorative pin, A Blu-Ray set of the HP movies, a CityWalk party pass, A nightime Gala event with food, a breakfast and an autograph session. Or it is $385 for everything but the Nighttime event, breakfast & autograph session.

I figure the HM event with Hotel & Park Passes for WDW would cost at least $500 just to attend a 1 day event that really is about a 1/2 day of activities not counting buying merchandise.

NO WAY woud I pay for this !!!

1) If this was at the mansion, count me in.
2) Count me in fast !
3) But, that price just to eat at the Contemporary Resort?
4) Give me a break !

We did some research and like karrit found it to be a very good deal. Ignore all other negative comments on this thread. Geez, some people only see a glass half-empty. :lmao:

Still on the fence on this one. It is the 40th Anniversary of the HM. I have read this is only the 4th time in 40 years that WDW has had a HM event. I will never be able to go to another one. Who knows, WDW could have a surprise! (I am just guessing, and hoping.)

I LOVE the Haunted Mansion. Wishing for pixiedust: that we make the correct decision. :hmghost:

Wish they would bring back the 999 Happy Haunts - access to HM merchandise at a much lower price.

I think you totally misunderstood my post. IMO the Harry Potter event at Universal is a much better deal then the HM event being held at the Contemporary. To me $285 is way too much for a 1 hour seminar with a few imagineers and dinner in the Contemporary Ballroom. If you are lucky you will get a really nice gift for attending but if not you may end up with a Blood Red plastic cup like we did at 999 Happy Haunts II.

I've attended several HM events over the years at both WDW & DL. Nothing has ever lived up to the first Walt Disney Art Classics Convention where Marc & Alice Davis greeted every attendee inside the HM as we were heading for our Doombuggies. Unfortunately the Art Classics Conventions are a thing of the past.
