Room discounts and then adding dining & tix

I may be wrong but I thought I remember reading somewhere on here, that people have booked a room only resv (that has a discount) and then added park tickets and dining.

Can you really do this? How doesn't it not turn it in to a regular price package? If the upcoming rumor is correct then I may consider this if my dates don't include the free dining.

Some room only discounts offer package upsells. Room is discounted, tix and dining aren't.

It worked for me! I turned my room only into a package with dining and tix.

When you have a room only reservation, adding tickets and dining makes it a package. The deposit for room only is 1 night's stay, balance due at check in; the deposit on a package is $200 with the balance due 45 days before your check in date. If you book room only and then decide you want a package, your reservation will be canceled and rebooked, your room only deposit refunded and then you will be charged the package deposit. Hopefully, if you cancel a room only to switch to a package with FD, you'll be able to get a ressie at the resort that you originally booked at, there are only a certain % of rooms for that discount at each resort.

Back in April I received a 30% off room PIN, I called and booked room only at POFQ. Then, I received a 35% room discount PIN and called to apply the better discount and to add tickets, my room only deposit was refunded and I was then charged $200. When FD was offered for November, I called again, lost the room discount but added FD to my package of room and tickets.

Yep, you can do that. Don't wait too long though, because you want to make sure that your resort isn't fully booked. I know that you can add a dining plan as late as 72 hours before check-in.
