I am a DVC member, but am "renting" my points to my brother to take his 8 year old on her first disney vacation!!! Yay! As a bonus they want me to come along to help them about the parks. I will be there a few days early staying at pop, and will check into Animal Kingdom Lodge before they get in. The room should be ready to get into before they arrive on magical express so I would like to do a few things to surprise my niece.

So far I have a pin lanyard and pins, autograph book, and will pick up some embroidered mickey ears. Those are my "more expensive additions to the room", I'm looking for decently priced/cheap Ideas for making it a special for her/them. Would love some ideas! This will probably be her only trip as a child and I want it to be perfect!

Go to Dollar Tree and buy glow sticks, Disney stickers, a Disney coloring book, and maybe a few more things. Wrap them in Disney paper. Each morning, let her open a gift.

Maybe a Disney toothbrush, toothpaste, and cup for the bathroom? I second the dollar tree ideas. Not sure what time of year it will be but if you are there near a holiday maybe get some Halloween/Christmas/thanksgiving etc. window clings that can go on the windows or sliding door.

Last year, I was a late addition to a friends trip after her marriage unexpectedly ended about 6 weeks beforehand.

Anyway, due to that, I had to take a different flight and wound up there 12 hours earlier than them. It was the kids first trip to Disney, and the kiss were really in need of some serious cheering up.

I added window clings to the window and mirrors, I snagged two balloons from the check in counter (not sure if they always do that or not- it was Valentines Day). I also had purchased two of the reusable Disney gift bags and had some gifts for the kids. I spread out some Mickey stickers that looked like confetti, as well.

In the gift bags, there was a shirt for each of the kids, one of those expanding wash clothes, customized autograph books, and a pair of sunglasses for each of them.

Love the window clings!

We are going the week before thanksgiving. It will very much be a christmas trip. After they get in the early afternoon I am figuring on Hollywood studios for osborne lights and/or fantasmic. Then it its a MK day, then AK morning, HS or Epcot evening, next day is MVMCP and the last day will be Epcot with the potential to hop if she gets board. I couldn't talk my brother into staying any longer than 4 full park days so I'm trying to make the most of it for her!

Since you're at akl make sure you know the special rules about the resort- no balloons, nothing on the balcony especially the railing and nothing in the outer doors.
