Back from a whirlwind vacation. Stayed at Pop for 3 nights (no points left). Then moved to OKW for 2 nights. Checked in, room was ready about 10:00- :thumbsup2! Carried all our luggage up to room 1220. Looked around, as I always do and noticed some things that caught my attention. So, I took pictures. It was pretty bad, IMHO- things that were preventable. Went to Disney Quest. In returning I emailed DVC MS. They called me back when we were at the MNSSHP that night. We returned to the resort around midnight. I went to guest services and asked if there was a manager on duty, he replied and said not until 7:00 the next morning. This was totally understandabe. The next morning I was there and had a plesant conversation with the resort manager. She asked me to email her the pictures, so I did right then and there. She told me that she would show them and then call me with what they would do. Sounded good to me, at the time. Off to Typhoon Lagoon we went. We returned around 1:00 to our room. And what do we walk into: the maintenance man repairing everything. Let me first tell you the problems: the bathroom door didn't open all the way- hit the floor, which caused the door to be chipped and cracked in the corner: the area just outside the bathroom: the ceiling had a big moldy area and some paint was cracked and pealing and falling on the carpet. So, when we returned, he was using bondo to fix the door and paint to fix the ceiling. If anyone knows what bondo is, it smells awful. My DH was livid at this time. No call from the manager and what they were doing was unacceptable. We went to guest services and she offered to move us. DH told her to come to our room to see and smell. She did and couldn't believe it! She offered to move us, but didn't have time and didn't want to- we were only there for 1 more night. She then offered to give us a $100 Disney gift card-:thumbsup2. DVC MS called me back the next day saying they are giving us one nights points back into our account-:thumbsup2 Then we move onto our 3 night cruise on the Dream that left 10/25: not getting into anything, but we are getting our port fees' and taxes refunded to us and 25% off a future 3 night cruise, along with the 10% rebooking discount. All in all it was a great vacation!

I am glad you had a great trip, despite the problems. Please know that the OKW rooms are not all like that. We just returned from a week in an OKW 2BR that was in wonderful condition. I hope you give OKW another try sometime!

Thanks! Despite all the problems, it was magical! We def will stay there again!

I was at OKW recently, 1BR room was ok, but I noticed that I had the old seafoam bedding. Friends in the next building, 13, had new dark blue stuff.

My only issue was that our outside front porch light was out, and the dimmer knob was missing. Both of those things should have been checked, IMHO, but we just ignored it.

We have not stayed at OKW in years, and it was nice to be back.

Just curious -- Were you on the cruise that got caught in Hurricane Sandy? I saw video and could not imagine how terrifying that must have been.

Yes, we were on the Dream. Not getting into anything, but, it was bad. At one point Saturday evening, DH said to me: "this boat is going to tip!"

I've seen videos. I would have been terrified. My parents are long-time cruisers (but not with Disney) and they've had many trips rerouted to avoid storms. In all their years, they encountered one literal rogue wave. I can't imagine wave after wave like that. I don't understand why the Disney ships didn't go away from the storms. :confused3
