I called MS to see what kind of rooms were available for DVC members. Boy was I disappointed! There is only 1 option...your basic hotel room that sleeps 4. That really stinks because a afamily of 5 would need to get 2 rooms. Yes, there are suites available...but for cash! I cannot understand why you can't use points for any room type!

hi Michelle,

I believe the Grand Californian is like other Disney Deluxe hotels and will sleep 5. From what I understand the fifth person in the queen/queen set up will have a sleeping bag and the fifth person in the queen/bunk bed set up will have a trundle bed. Depending on the age of you party, this may or may not accomadate you.

I will get back to you next week to confirm this after I stay there.

As for suites - this is consistant with the Grand Floridian, Polynesian and other Deluxes at WDW. You can't use points on a suite. We have heard a few people say they were able to pay the cash difference and some who were told no.

That is terrible!!! Is that for all seasons or just some dates. We were hoping to get a room that sleeps 5 in a year or 2. I saw that they had bunk bed rooms with a trundle bed. We have 3 kids so I thought those rooms sounded great!

We stayed at the Grand California. We thought for our family of 4 the bunk beds would be good. Turns out the bunk beds only fit people 5"2' and shorter (our son is 6'2"). There is *NO* room for a trundle or rollaway in the rooms. You will have 2 queens and IF they let you put 5 in the room, the 5th will be given a sleeping bag and mat. There is HARDLY any room for the sleeping bag on the floor!! Go over to the Disneyland Hotel, the rooms are bigger. We stayed there once with 2 queens and they had a daybed, which when my son was smaller, was perfect for him. From now on, we will be staying at the older hotel and then just walking over to the new hotel.
