Room charging question

2 questions actually - I have a room only reservation that I have paid for in full. I want to have room charging. I know I leave my cc number, but how much can I charge? Does Disney set the limit or does it go by my cc limit?

Do the carts in the park accept the room key for ice cream and sodas? If so, who doesn't accept the key for payment?

You will have a limit based on the level of resort -- $1,500 deluxe, $1,000 moderate and $500 value. Your credit card will not be charged until you reach that limit or get to your last day. When you reach that limit, the resort will charge your card and start you over at the same limit. One of the nice things about charging to your room is that, if you're near the end of your credit card cycle, you can grab an extra month of grace time. There are a few carts that do not take room charge, but the vast majority of places you can spend $ in the parks do.

The last poster is absolutely correct. Once you hit the limit the resort gives the credit card will be billed and you will start over. The only charge that does go through immediately is if your purchasing park tickets.

I'm staying at OKW.....can I still do room charging?... It's a home away from home resort and I'm not sure which "category" it falls into.

All WDW Owned Resorts allow room charging on property. Does not matter where you stay as long as it is a WDW owned Resort. So OKW is included. Enjoy your trip!!

As was stated OKW is included as it is a Disney resort. They are considered a Deluxe (for charging purposes) and will allow up to $1500.00 before asking for a payment to the room account.

Also - just an aside, but those are MAXIMUM limits.

If you're like me, and have a tough time controlling your hot little room key, you can request a LOWER limit. You just can't request anything over those limits.

Ok, not to sound like a total doofus, but what kind of things can you charge to your room? Can you charge sodas and snacks, meals, souvenirs, etc? It would be extremely convenient if we could put everything on the room key and leave the wallets at the hotel!!

Any place where they have an electronic cash register (rather than just a cash box, like a cart), which is most places.

You can use your room key.

Far be it from Disney to refuse payment of some sort! hehehe

Seriously, you can use it at Downtown Disney. I'm not sure if all the non-Disney restaurants will take it (Rainforest Cafe, House of Blues, Bongos, etc.) but I would think they do. They took my room key at the Earl of Sandwich, so I would imagine the other non-Disney owned places will too.

That's very cool! It will be a great relief to only carry a small amount of cash and no credit cards while at the parks and DTD. I always worry about losing stuff. The less stuff to keep up with, the better!! Ya know, the way things are going, and with this new biometrics stuff at the gates with the MYW tickets, pretty soon Disney may just be able to scan your finger to charge stuff to your room, and open your hotel door, and get you into the parks, etc... and that way, all you have to carry with you, is your finger! I'm pretty sure even I couldn't lose that!!
