Room availablity question, Grand Californian

We are considering buying DVC resale and hoping to stay at the Grand Californian Villas in May. My understanding is that it can take about 3 months to do the closing and get the membership id cards.

So, the question is will there be one bedrooms available in February/March to rent for the first week of May? I think we would be about 10 weeks out from the trip when we could book.

Probably not. I just tried to get rooms over 2 seperate weekends in feb/mar and there was nothing in any type. The resort is not very big. I have no problem at 7m but anything shorter is always hard. I waitlisted my weekends. Good Luck.

I don't know if there's going to be anything available three months out at VGC ... but I could call tomorrow and check what the availability on 1 bedrooms is currently if you PM me your dates. If availability isn't there when you call to book you can wait list and book a cash room off-site (or PPH or DLH) and wait until the 7 days mark ... and if it doesn't come through bank your points into the following year.
Part of the problem with booking at the end of winter is by Feb/Mar everybody will have a better idea of what the opening date of Carsland will be (hopefully). So some may be wanting to get in before the rush and some will be rushing to see Carsland.

I was worried about the Carsland opening... I'm hoping it's not yet open when we go. I think the crowds might be better that way.

There are 23 dedicated two bedrooms and 23 two bedroom lockoffs (studio + 1 bedroom that can be reserved separately) plus 2 grand villas.
