My boyfriend, parents, brother, and sister are planning on going to Orlando (three days at WDW, a day at Universal (traitors..) and a day at the ocean) THIS February. They haven't booked a room yet. They say they'll need two rooms, but they can't decide whether to spend more on a hotel (they were thinking Animal Kingdom Lodge) and eat at less pricey restaurants, etc, or to spend less on a room (maybe All Star Sports) and eat at more pricey restaurants and get more souveniers, etc.

So I guess I have two questions.

1. Will they be able to book two rooms for 4-5 nights within a month of leaving??

2. Do you think it would be better to stay at a more pricey hotel (and get not-as-great food and not as much stuff) or a less pricey hotel (and get better food and get more stuff)?

Thanks so much!

Really depends on what they like. I like to eat. I'd spend more on the restaurants.

There was someone on here last week saying they wanted to extend their vacation in Feb. and were told there were NO rooms available on the dates she wanted.

Check the disneyworld.com website and see if anything's available. Even if not, they can always call to find out. It's pretty close, and even at slow times sometimes things are sold out, so unless you check, it's hard to say.

We got one room at Pop within a month of going, but we are going next week, so it's pretty slow right now. I would call and check. She will have to pay in full when she books since it is within 45 days of going though.

As far as where to stay if availibility is bad then whereever she can. However, if there are enough rooms then I would tell her to consider how often she will be in the room. For us we are basically only in the room to sleep and get ready for the day, so we choose to stay at less expensive resorts and spend more on food and suvys. However, a lot of people like to take breaks and go back to the room, or resort pool or whatever. If that is the case maybe she would be happier in a more pricey resort with more extras. It really depends on her priorities. Tell her to think about how much time she will spend in the room/at the resort, and whether the ammenities at the resort she will actually use (lots of times there is so much stuff offered at resorts that people are paying for and never use) or the type of food and suvys she gets are more important. When she decides that she will know where to stay. Tell her to call ASAP though. Good luck to her, hope she has a great time.

Does their stay include a Saturday night? Saturday nights tend to be the most booked. Some posters here have reported problems booking Saturday Feb 10th, and the following weekend is probably even busier since it's part of President's Day weekend. If their stay is earlier in February and doesn't include a Saturday, they will have an easier time getting what they want. Hope they have a great trip! :)

Do they have to stay on-site? It looks as if they'll be sharing half of their time at Disney and half elsewhere - so maybe a place off-site would be an option? I'm going to tell you to look at the Windsor Hill condos or townhomes at windsorhillsrent.com. They will not need to get two rooms - one will suffice and it will certainly be a lot cheaper than Disney hotels. Just read the fine print though. Stays of less than 7 or so days may add a cleaning fee to the total, and the pools at the townhomes may require extra money for the pool heating.

But - I'm just throwing it out as an option. Hope they have fun!

It depends on when you are going. We had wanted to change our visit to Feb 10-17 and was told that there was no a single room in the world aval. No joke we called twice. However, our orginal dates (last week in Feb) was still aval. I think because of President's Day. Good Luck.:thumbsup2
