Room availability Feb 10-12

I just checked all three hotels and Portofino is the only one with availability that weekend. It's not a holiday, and last year I got a room for $159.

Does anyone have any ideas about what's going on?

Perhaps it's because Mardi Gras starts the 11th?

There must be some sort of big convention going on or something because I tried to switch my stay from Feb. 16th -20th to Feb. 11th - 16th, and there was NO availability in either Hard Rock or Royal Pacific. Weird that there would be rooms available (at a very high cost) during President's weekend but not the week before.

Mardi Gras starts on the 11th, but the celebration at the park is every Saturday until April, so I think that can be the sole reason for the sell-out.

Anyone know?

I ended up gettting a "free" room (using points) at the Holiday Inn outside the gates. It's the first time I'm going to be visiting the parks without staying onsite, but I didn't have a choice (I already had my airline tickets).
