I just got room.assignment. 7547 ground floor carousel. Had requested Paddock. Do you think I will have any luck if I ask for.paddock at check in? Also how is sound proofing on 1st floor? Thanks.

You can certainly go to the desk and ask if there is any way to be changed, The worst they will say is none are available.

Do it sooner rather than later. Waiting will make for less options. You'll need to ok with waiting for a new room that might not be clean yet(and let them know you are ok with that).

I just called them. She said she is going to let them know.we want paddock and said they will call me. Fingers crossed. That is where we stayed last year. I mean we can walk from.carousel but this would be better obviously!

I think if Disney had the ability to make Carousel a new booking category at SSR they should. A lower point requirement than standard view room. Have no clue as to whether or not it would even be possible.

Congrats on getting Paddock!! We are hoping to stay in Paddock ourselves this summer. If you don't mind, what shape is the room in? :)

Well we are still in Carousel. Room 7247 but it is closer to Paddock pool than previous room and right next to Carousel bus stop. I think the bed is comfy. The room is in decent shape. DD age 7 complained that the sofa bed isn't very comfortable..but of course she is just used to a regular bed and she slept fine. The bathtub is clean. Rug is worn. But all good otherwise! Hope the new rooms have more outlets!

Thanks for your reply! 3 minutes from the Paddock pool is still a great option--and a good plan if you do get Carousel--just ask to be close to the Paddock pool. :)
Decent shape will do for us. I was hoping to have a renovated room when I booked this several months ago, but we prefer Paddock over the renovated areas so going to stick with that.
I hope you have a fun-filled, magical trip!! pixiedust:

Then the other categories would have to go up. SSR used to be all one category. 2 or 3 years ago, they split out Preferred and Standard. Preferred is more points than prior, Standard is less. The total for the whole resort has to balance.

Right. Not sure if it would work.

They can, like they did near HH at OKW. But, the problem is, the more booking categories there are, the less likely a room will be available for a longer stay, you may need to book some nights in one category, and other nights in another category...meaning hassle of moving, checking out and back-in and so forth.

You might be right, but if any resort has good availability, it's SSR. My guess is that it wouldn't be a major problem for anyone booking anything other than a last minute stay. I haven't stayed in Carousel but I'd be very disappointed if I drew that short straw.

So that wasn't legal? Really?
That's a very good question and no one really knows the answer for sure :)

With the original 2020 reallocation they tried to reallocate points between Units and to increase the lockoff premium for their own advantage. A number of us complained and threatened legal action and they rolled it back, just saying it wasn't well communicated. But they haven't attempted to do it again this year with the 2021 point charts. However they haven't changed back what they did in the previous years either.

So what's the truth? I think they know what they did may be questioned and it can go either way if challenged in court. So they'll probably try to fly under the radar, they won't try it again in the future and they won't change it back where it was done (it would be like admitting the wrongdoing).
