So my DH and I are taking our 6 and 4 year old in January and staying at the Poly. We are going to be there on our anniversary and thought we would let the kids stay at the Neverland club for two or three hours. We thought we would like to go to dinner but I have to admit, I don't want to spend tons of money on top of paying for the Neverland Club and also thought I might like to do something else in addition to dinner with my DH. Any tips you'd like to share?

Look into a carriage ride. They usually last about 30 minutes and are offered at the WL and POR. I can't remember the prices on them though. If you do a search for carriage rides other threads will come up.

DH and I had a great romantic evening at the Poly one night. We dropped DD and DS at Neverland Club (they loved it!), then we strolled over to the pool bar and picked up some Mai Tai's. We went back to our room and enjoyed our drinks on our patio. "After" . . . we went up to the Tambu Lounge for more pops and appetizers (excellent appetizers here!) - and watched the MK fireworks from there. On our way to pick up the kids, we browsed the shops in the Poly.

As you said, the Neverland Club for two is expensive enough so we didn't want to spend more on a lavish dinner. We also wanted to stay at the resort in case the kids needed us!

This was one of the highlights for both the kids and us! We are also doing this in Jan. at AKL. We have the kids PS'ed for Simba's Clubhouse and we will have alone time, then drinks and appetizers at Victoria Falls.

Bumping this up for Dommett.

Don't know why but lately I've been a total "thread-killer"! Sorry Dommett - maybe others will see now!

The carriage ride at POR was awesome, and not pricy--condsidering it is WDW, I don't recall offhand how much though--DH paid, but I remember being shocked at how low it seemed. He scheduled it for dusk--VERY NICE.

Or, look into seeing if you could share a boat with someone for illuminations--this was an experience i will not forget--and you can bring snacks and wine if you like :D

Also, you can sit on the beach of the Poly and watch the Fireworks or Electrical Water Pageant.

Room Service ;) ;)

After the fireworks you can watch the fireworks from the beach.

In January you will probably have to reverse the order of the fireworks.

Sorry I do not have more ideas, but 2 toddlers have changed my idea of romantic to 10 minutes of quiet

Congratulations and have a great time :D

David
