I've done a search and still can't find a lot of info about this package. I know it includes a couples' massage. Do we get to choose when the massage takes place, or do they tell us when?? I'd prefer to have the massage while onboard the ship, not on our Castaway Cay day. What exactly is "Romance" turn-down service??? What else do they do besides the regular turn-down?? Do they let us decide which morning we want the Champagne breakfast in bed?? What exactly is the Romantic gift amenity??

Any info you have, I'd love to hear! Thanks :)

I was curious about this too, I never got any details so we skipped it, maybe next year.................

I called DCL the other day to book this package, but then decided against it. Basically for the $299 per couple you get a couple's massage in the spa, (which you still have to book once on board so you may not get the day and time you wish), you get to pre reserve your dining times at Palo prior to your cruise and it includes the $10 dinner charge but not the brunch charge, a gift in your stateroom and special romantic turndown service the night of your Palo dinner and a champagne breakfast in your room which is normal food that's delivered plus champagne. Oh yes, you also get to go to the rainforest in the spa once. I think that was about it. I decided not to do it because I was annoyed that they wouldn't let me make spa reservations up front. I maybe wouldn't have to rush to get the Palo ressies, but I'd still have to be there very early to get the spa reservations.

Pays to read - I started a thread without realizing this one was started already - sorry!!

For what you get, it doesn't sound like such a good deal - I mean, who wants to stand in line for spa ressies if we are paying ahead for them?!???

And what's a romantic turndown service?????? Two towel animals instead of one?? More chocolate?

Inquiring minds.

I was wondering this same thing, so I called DCL last night and asked. I actually had to politely hang up after speaking to and thanking the first CM because English was definitely her second language and she couldn't understand what I was asking her. I got a second CM on the phone and she explained that "Romantic turndown service" is on one night, and they leave a gift on your bed. She couldn't tell me exactly what that gift was, or what the main "romantic gift" was, because she said they change from time to time. She did say that one of the gifts would be in the stateroom upon boarding, on the first day.

I am going to consider purchasing this package because someone recently said that they were able to make Palo reservations before their cruise, for all 3 meals (brunch, tea, and dinner), and this aspect is appealing to me. This same DISer also said that "VIP" was noted next to their names at Palo due to their having this package, and they were given "good" seats each time. Good seats isn't really major, but it's good to know they note the package like that, for seating. I know we'd enjoy the champagne breakfast in bed, and I know DH would like to try a profesional spa massage, but he wouldn't go by himself, so we'd be doing a couple's massage anyway. Even though you have to wait until you're onboard to make the spa reservation, this person who's review I read said that once they mentioned that they had the Romantic Escape package, they were able to get the day and time they wanted. For the life of me, I cannot remember who's review I read that said all of these things, but I know it was someone who cruised recently!! (I'm getting old, my memory is getting bad. LOL:crazy: )

Anyway.....I might get this package as a surprise for DH. :lovestruc

Ok I just found the thread where I had read some of the info I mentioned above. Here's a link to it: http://disboards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=481040

It sounds like the amenities for this package change regularly, so I'm wondering what exactly will be included by the time we cruise next summer. LOL I still think it sounds like a nice idea though :)

Thanks that was a very informative report on the Romance package - I'm in folks - sounds like my DH will be very, very surprised!

Hey, romance isn't just for men to give to women!!!!
Remember that!!!

Just bumping this up for the people on Rae's thread who were looking for info on this package :)

From the description of ELIJAH'S GRANDPA and others above, I think this is something I would do next time! Sounds like it was worth the extra $$$!

Hmm, sounds worth it to me too- however, they mentioned a day at rainforest in the spa- that isn't mentioned as part of the pkg so I'm not sure everyone would get that?
They also didn't mention if they got to PICK what morning they had the champagne breakfast- unless I missed that? So does anyone know if you get to pick the morning or if they pick it themselves?

I specifically asked if WE get to pick which day for Palo, which morning for the breakfast in bed, and which day for the spa and the CM told me that WE do get to choose the days for these things, except of course for the last morning.

I am just curious seaspray.. how are you going to get rid of the boys for your romantic bfst in bed? I thought about doing that but then Mike would want bfst in bed too.....:)

Hi Ann! :wave2:

I'm chuckling here to myself because I really haven't given that any thought yet!! :p But now that I think about it, our DSs will be 16 and 13 when we cruise, and so I think one of two things will happen on the morning we have our breakfast in bed:

Scenario #1: We'll simply have them get up and go to Topsiders or wherever else they want to have breakfast :teeth: (Basically kick them out that morning. LOL)

Scenario #2: It'll be early enough that DSs will be dead asleep and won't even hear our breakfast arrive! I'm assuming that they will be up late each night.

I want to point out that I'm not thinking that our romantic breakfast in bed with champagne is going to LEAD anywhere, if you know what I mean! ;) So really, even if DSs are there and awake and want to order their own room service breakfast and eat with us, that will be fine with us :) If a couple had other things in mind, then yes it'd definitely be a little difficult to arrange that, if you had kids in your cabin with you! :p I'm simply counting on a nice breakfast in bed, with champagne (we both LOVE mimosas!), and a few relaxing moments for DH and I :)

you are too cute seapray and so much like myself and DH.. we never really have "romance at sea" just wonderful family time...
Don't want to pay for years of therapy for scaring DS for life if he walked in at the wrong time ;)

Okay maybe I'm a little cranky here (think 6 weeks of bronchitis/pneumonia/sinusitis AND menopausal woman) - but
for the price, Disney should tell us EXACTLY everything we are getting, and the when and how of the package. This "little bit of info" here and there and it seems we are all getting different answers from when we call - well, it's not going to put me over the edge but it's adding to it!

I think it's hot tub and champagne time - or at least a nap!

LOL! Rae, drinking champagne in the hot tub will probably LEAD to an inevitable nap! LOL :teeth:

Hopefully not while in the tub!!!

HAHAHAH!

Is the couples massage only appropriate for couples? I ask this because my MIL is celebrating her b-day on the cruise. She and my DH love massages. I didn't enjoy it the only time I tried it. This package seems like a great deal if my DH and I get the romantic stuff, advance reservations at Palo, and I can give the massage as a gift to my MIL.

I had Tammy at DU book this package for us. Some things to point out:

1) Contrary to the post referenced, the Palo fee isn't included, just the opportunity to book early--and currently the promise of brunch and tea at Palo is being done as a courtesy at the time of the dinner booking, but is not part of the package.

2) Tammy seems to think she CAN book the massage (choice of the 50 minute couples massage or a 25 minute massage and 25 minute facial) prior to the trip as well.

Sounds good to me! (now I ALSO need to figure out how to get the kids out of the room for my breakfast in bed!)

I totally agree! I think we should know exactly what the pkg includes. I don't like vague or differing answers.... I don't do well with mysteries that I'm paying for nor surprises. LOL

I know how WE'D deal with champagne breakfast in bed- depending on what time it is supposed to be. If it's early- we'll just lock the connecting door to the children when we wake up- and hope they don't wake up while we're enjoying it. LOL If it's later- I'll just have DH take them to the clubs/labs. (that is ofcourse assuming they like the clubs/labs) Otherwise we'll be having a little family romantic breakfast in bed. LOL

BTw- I was just curious... I know many do the Palo ressies after boarding- and usually they determine what night they want to have Palo dinner (or atleast their preference- not saying they always get it!) based on their dining rotation that they find out when they check in to board! I would like to do the same thing.. I'd rather go to Palo's on a night we would have been going to Lumiere's anyway- it's one less night of dressing up. Don't get me wrong- I like dressing up occasionally... but I have this nightmare envisioned (and knowing my luck it's exactly what will end up happening LOL) where we have semi-formal and formal nights NOT on our Lumiere's nights, then add 2 Lumiere's nights, and then Palo only available on another night.. that's 5 nights out of 7 that we're dressing up. That's too much for me- I couldn't possibly wear the same dress (or even 2) that many nights- so I'd have to not only pack more- but BUY more.
LOL
So if you do this pkg and can get your Palo ressies in advance- how the heck do you know what night to pick when you don't know your dining rotation yet? That has me baffled...
