Hello,
We're going to be celebrating my partner's retirement and her 60th birthday. Looking for great dinner suggestions. I'd prefer to eat at a resort but I'm open to anything. This is her first time to DW in 26 years!!!

You're likely to get 20 responses with 20 different favorites! We found it tough to have an actual 'romantic' dinner at Disney, with it being so kid-friendly, but you will have options. The only true adult-only option is Victoria's & Alberts, and I'm not clear they're reopened yet since the pandemic. It's also not a cuisine for everyone. But we have enjoyed very nice adult 'feeling' dinners at other Grand Floridian locations in Narcoossee's and Citrico's. Our #1 favorite, however, is probably Jiko at the Animal Kingdom Lodge - many great food, wine, and drink options, along with a walk outside along some of the animal lookouts makes for a special evening..... Enjoy, and congrats!!!

Wow - so many options. "Romantic" seems to mean different things to different people. Are you looking for a quiet place with nice atmosphere? How important is the quality of the food and service?

Great question and we're really looking for something more adult and less children. Our kids are grown now. Atmosphere is biggest thing, then food. @thanxfornoticin you are SO right; finding a true romantic meals is hard to come by. Years ago I had a phenomenal dinner at Artist Point with my ex. It was hands down the best service, food and atmosphere I've ever had at Disney. But it was my ex, so I don't want to go there to celebrate my new relationship.

You probably wouldn’t want to go to Artist Point now in any case, since it is not the same operation at all. It changed to Story Book Dining with Snow White.

I echo the Jiko suggestion. I think many of the families dining at AKL choose the Boma buffet rather than the Jiko signature dining experience. Food and service at Jiko has always been excellent.

Story Book Dining? Wow...so much has changed. Jiko could be nice...forgot about that one. Thank you.

Cali Grill or Citricos gets my vote of restaurants in the MK area. Cali Grill gets pretty loud, and some tables are close together. Chatting with fellow diners can be great fun, comparing what you each ordered and how you like it. We've really enjoyed such encounters there. Citricos is much less hectic, equally marvelous food and service, with a charming new decor suggesting a Mary Poppins theme.

We also really like Yachtsman for steaks in an upscale atmosphere.

Topolino's at Riviera is excellent, too.

Absolutely!! for V&A's if you want the meal of a lifetime, should it have reopened. Whether the regular 7-course or the 10-course tasting menus of Queen Victoria's Room or, best of all, Chef's Table, you'll have a wonderfully romantic dinner in a more subdued atmosphere than at any other Disney restaurant. WELL worth the expense if sample menus appeal at all as they will go above and beyond, even catering your individual menus to likes/dislikes.

V & A is on my Bucket List. Topolino's is new so that might be one we'd try. I've done lunch at Citricos before and I LOVED the atmosphere. Great suggestions...thank you.

Quite welcome.

Feel free to PM me if you've questions about any of those places as we've eaten several times at all but Topolino's.

Yachtsman gets my vote. It's a little more atmospheric and the food was really good. It also appeals to adults more then kids so might be a bit more romantic.

Agree with Yachtsman and with Cali Grill. Yachtsman gives off a more romantic vibe to me, and Cali Grill is more trendy and louder (but the view is awesome).

Coronado Springs' Maya Grill gets my vote, though. It tends to be much quieter, has a soothing atmosphere, and has great food. Not sure if the nice classical guitar music has returned, but it was terrific and not so loud as to disturb the mood.

In my many trips to DW, I’ve never eaten at Yachtman’s. I’ve only heard excellent things.

It is 200% worth it and I say that as someone who is a slightly picky eater. I love things there I'd never try elsewhere! I know they're closed now but fingers crossed for a quick reopening. I got engaged there and I haven't been back since I was pregnant with my second and it's just not the same without the wine pairings ;)
