Romance in Chicago...

I need ideas about the romantic side of Chicago. I'm planning a romantic weekend for my guy's birthday at the end of March. I did some research today and Mary Poppins is playing that weekend, so I'm going to work on getting great seats for the Saturday night show... but for Friday night... for those of you that know Chicago... where is a romantic spot that the rest of the tourists might not know about?

If it's a crystal clear evening and not too cold and if you have a car, drive out the road that runs east from Lake Shore Drive out to the Adler Planetarium and go to the end and then drive back west towards LSD. As you get closer to the Shedd Aquarium, park in any of the parking spaces out there and walk along the sidewalk that runs along that road, behind the aquarium. The lit up skyline of Chicago with the edge of Lake Michigan's shore in the foreground is one of the most fabulous views you'll ever experience. I think it's romantic because it's so fantastic!

Hey, well I work in downtown Chicago. If you're looking for romance, I would say having dinner at the Signature Lounge at the 95th is hard to beat. It's at the top of the John Hancock Building and you can see the entire Chicago skyline while you dine with top quality food. If you go before it gets dark, it will feel like you're sitting on top of Lake Michigan. If you go when its dark, you can see the entire city lighted up.

I tried to book reservations online today and it said I was too early... there must be a 60 day window?

Indeed there is a 60 day window. Just try it at the end of the month, you should have no problems getting a table. I've gotten tables at prime times with 2 weeks notice

The photos on their website that show the views... oh my... how amazing. I'll have to figure out a good time to start dinner so we can see the lake before it gets dark... then end with it being dark. I'd like to have a few minutes to see the lake and then watch dusk fall... Does Chicago participate in daylight savings time?

Indeed we do. Time will switch back the 2nd Sunday of March and it sounds like you'll be going after that time. If you were going now, I'd say get there around 5 and end around 7 which would be perfect. At the end of March, probably get there around 6:30 and end around 8 or 8:30.
