I always carry a backpack...first aid items, sunscreen, video camera, camera, autograph book, etc. This time it's just dd6 and myself and trying to downsize, don't see that I can get away without the backpack. I bought dd a rolling LLBean backpack for the plane ride, was thinking that migth be an option for the parks instead of taking my backpack separately. Thoughts? At some points I think rolling would be nice (lines, restaurants, etc), but can't see walking through the parks doing that...how uncomfortable would it be to carry on your back?? Seems okay now, but things at different at WDW!

I didn't think they allowed them in the parks... and even if they did, I wouldn't bring one. My 2nd grader has one for school, and on the days we walk home, she often asks me to pull it along so she can walk freely. When I do it for her, I always have trouble with the thing flipping over.. it's more of a pain for me.

They're not allowed? I saw one last month over at Epcot. Although personally, I wouldn't bring one. It looked like the guy was struggling with it quite a bit. :sad2:

I can't even imagine how difficult it would be with one of those rolling backpacks.
Think of every turn and twist that you do just waiting in line and, heck, everywhere.
It would be a total nightmare I'd imagine!

And besides the "not-so-ease-of-use," I for some reason have a pet peeve for the rolling backpack myself. Use them if you'd like... and as long as you can walk faster than me! lol

The official statement is that rolling backpacks are not allowed in the parks. However, when we were there in January we saw one in MK and another one in AK. Both times we saw people tripping over them and complaining to the owners. Personally I would not use one in the parks. They appear to be more trouble than they're worth.

I saw a few rolling backpacks in March, usually small ones with kids pulling them. I think they would be kind of a pain. I liked taking a smaller sling backpack.

We have a small Disney backpack on wheels (I presume this is the type of thing we are talking about here) that we have used around parks in Europe (incl. Universal Mediterranea) and had no problems. When we are in queues or crowds I just hoist it up onto my back.
We were planning to use it this year in Orlando but now I have my doubts! Has anyone actually been stopped from taking one of these into a park?
