Roller coaster riders stuck upside down at Wonderland

MAPLE, Ont. (CP) - At least 20 roller coaster riders were stranded on a ride tonight at Canada's Wonderland north of Toronto.
The ride apparently malfunctioned and stranded the riders upside down about 30 metres off the ground, reported Toronto radio station 680 News.

The coaster, known as The Bat, ground to a halt at the top of one of its loops at about 9 p.m.

A caller to the radio station, identified as Owen, said at least a half dozen park employees were using ladders to reach the riders to keep them calm until help arrived.

Man, would you ever have a headache after hanging 30 minutes upside on a BAT..

That reminds me of when I was at WDW as a teenager, and my mom, brother and I got stuck on/in Space Mountain, I'm sure it was 20 minutes. Luckily we were on a flat part but we were up near the top and in the "dark" (well as dark as space mountain is) we could see the TTC going thru. It was pretty funny but I definately would have preferred it to have been anyone else but my mom & brother

Yikes!!! I would of been not so good I think......here is the full article from the paper today.........I had to at the part that says they were quite comfortable!

MAPLE, Ont. -- At least 20 people were stranded on a roller coaster ride at Canada's Wonderland north of Toronto on Tuesday night.

The ride, known as The Bat, malfunctioned at about 9 p.m. and stranded the riders about 30 metres off the ground for about 20 minutes.

Initial media reports suggested riders were suspended upside down but that was not the case, said a spokeswoman for Canada's Wonderland.

"We experienced what's called a lift stop...a built-in safety feature when a ride experiences a computer error,'' said Chris Williams.

"It's a feature designed to safeguard our guests so that we can investigate what the error might be.''

"They were quite comfortable and obviously our attraction personnel were in constant touch with them,'' said Williams.

The passengers left the ride by walking down a flight of stairs adjacent to the lift stop under the supervision of park staff.

Williams said park staff were still investigating the cause of the computer error.

Friday night my ds and I got stuck for about 15 minutes on a little ride called Blast Off(I think that is what it is called anyway). The ride would not stop exactly where it was supposed to and they kept doing it over and over-OMG I NEVER want to see that stupid ride again! I can just imagine those people on the Bat!!!
