:scared1: On the way home from a lovely spring break DH lost control of our SUV and we flipped the SUV, with travel trailer attached, at least 3 times, according to witnesses. The car landed on the two front tires with its butt draped over a streetlamp and the trailer on its side at a 90-degree angle. The top is creased, two doors won't open, the windshield and two window blew out. And we all walked away from it...no serious injuries. The kids had to jump from the back door, about 4-1/2 ft to the ground. I lost my shoes. DD17 got whapped upside the head with her laptop, so her face is a little messed up and she needed a few stitches. I have a massive bruise on my rt shoulder and a 12" linear bruise along my left thigh, plus whiplash and a mild concussion(and two big ole lumps on my haid!) DH and Christian have some bruising at the waist from their seatbelts, but all the scans checked out negative. Of course, we all feel like we rolled an SUV with trailer in tow, haha.

I have rarely even seen a wreck this bad. We have not had any kind of wreck since we were in college, back in 1980. So I guess it was just our turn. But I'm telling you, God was right there with us. God is good, all the time. It could have been soooooo much worse. Any day you walk away from a rollover is a good day.

And if you're in the market for an SUV, I highly recommend the Ford Expedition.:wizard:

Wow. After that, I am glad you are here to tell us about it! :scared1:

Glad the injuries were minimal! Wow, boy, you got lucky! Someone was watchig over you! :littleangel:

I'm glad everyone is okay!

I don't remember the outcome of your other thread, did your DD's friend come with you on this trip?

Oh my goodness. I am so glad that all of you are okay. You certainly did have a guardian angel!!

Oh wow, God really did have His hand on you guys! Glad all turned out ok!

aMEN!! You are definitely blessed!! Take care of yourselves, the pain usually comes after the shock.

Oh my goodnes, how terrifying!

I hope Christian wasn't too scared. :(

Wow, isn't it amazing how someone can survive such a horrible wreck with few injuries.

What a scary thing to have happen.

Oh so scary! I'm so glad you're all OK.

Yes, the boyfriend was with us and had not a scratch on him! As much as I hated having to make "that" call to his mother, I was very glad to tell her that he seems to be perfectly fine and of course, we had him checked out in the ER, too. He was really sweet and helpful to the rest of us too. He helped DD17 a lot--she was very shocky afterward and I showed him what to do and he did it. He covered her up, gave her water, talked to her and kept her calm while I dealt with Christian, who was also shocky. I didn't even realize how much I was hurt until several hours later.

He was pretty upset and kept trying to get back into the car. He was in a milder state of shock and actually allowed me to sit him down for a long while.

We were so fortunate that a bunch of people stopped to help us--some soldiers from Ft Stewart, off duty fire & police officers, EMTs, nurses. We had about 15 people out there helping us. The people in the car behind us jumped right out to help--they actually thought we were dead. Their eyes were bugging out of their heads when we swung the doors open and hopped out!

Oh, honey - thank heavens it was no worse! (bad enough!)

I hope that none of you have any prolonged injuries or aches from it.

So glad you are all OK!

That is my biggest fear about towing our trailer! I have yet to actually drive when the trailer is in tow. I am too scared of what you described. Luckily DH does not share my fear.

OH WOW!! So glad are all ok , hope no long lasting pain for all .

We have a Ford Expedition too, I have thought about giving it up as it seems a bit much with only one child, but I keep coming back to how safe I feel in it. No more thoughts of going back to car now .

You know, I have pulled this trailer all over the place. We took a cross-country trip 3 years ago, drove over 6000 miles over the Rockies twice, even. Never had that trailer budge. Once I got used to towing, it was a snap. I drove over half of those 6000 miles and not even ONCE did I have a moment of panic. Well, I did *one* teensy tiny time, when I accidently hit a restaurant and tore off 20 feet of roof. I guess my family can stop making fun of that little episode in light of DH's *totalling* of both vehicles. Of course, DH feels just terrible about it and I would never say anything to make him feel worse. He truly did the best he could have, probably better than a lot of people. He was absolutely fearless--I thought the steering wheel would wrench his shoulders from their sockets, he held on so hard. But in the end it was just too much and we jack-knifed & rolled.

Like a lot of other people have said, we can replace the SUV, the trailer, the food, the bikes. We walked away with all the important stuff.:goodvibes
