I am new to the Boards so excuse me if this topic was already discussed. Does anyone have experience using a Rollator/walker at WDW ? My main concerns would be using for bus or monorail transportation and parking securely while on attractions. Thanks for your input and suggestions

you would take it thru the line with you and it will be waiting at the exit for you. on bus if it is foldable you would fold it after seated and hold it in front of you. I would assume same for same for monorail. one thing you didnt ask but I would practice at home using on uneven ground and sidewalks as walking around Disney is not like walking in house at home. if one is close and you have time before your trip i would make a trip to a local theme park to see how it goes

Be sure to ask at the entrance to each ride what the procedure is. Peter Pan now routes its standby line through Columbia Harbor House, which has stairs, so they issue return times. I think a couple of other rides may now do this as well.

Something to be aware of... I know you are new to the boards, but I do not know if you are new to Disney World. It is not uncommon to travel at least 8-10 miles a day on your vacation. The ground at Disney is not all smooth like indoors, but is made to be "authentic" ground, so there are a LOT of bumps. Sorry if you have already considered this, but are you going to be comfortable walking that much, even with a rollator?

Before I started using a chair full time, I would use my walker or crutches at home, but I needed a wheelchair or scooter for Disney World.

Again, sorry if I overstep, but I want you to enjoy your vacation!

This is true.
I honestly do not remember anyone using a rollator/walker at the parks. I would leave open the idea of getting a wheel chair.

I use a rollator at Disneyland all the time, I’m bringing mine to wdw. For me the rollator is needed because I can’t stand for long periods and I can’t carry stuff on my back. I can walk as long as I have my rollator no problem miles and miles. I have used an ecv in the past and prefer my rollator.
On busses i always go up the back ramp, sometimes I fold my rollator and sometimes they strap it down. Disney is very good at assisting you and letting you know what to do.
If walking long distances is a problem then you may be better off with a wheelchair or ecv. But there are a lot of people who use rollators at the parks. So if that’s what works best for you, no worries you can use it their no problem.
I actually only use my rollator at amusement parks , museums, malls. Because I can walk fine, I just have a standing issue, hope that helps.

Hi there. Please don’t be afraid to use your rollator at WDW. I used mine for many trips. If you find yourself getting too tired, you can always rent a scooter at the park. They will hold your rollator for you in the back while you use the scooter and then bring it back out to you when you return the scooter.
Using a rollator gives you so much more freedom versus a scooter so if you are already comfortable walking with a rollator for a distance, you will be able to use it at WDW. Be sure to practice going up and down curbs and stay away from the tracks down main street. If you have to cross the tracks, do so carefully.
I’m not knocking a scooter. They are wonderful when you need them. I just don’t want you to miss the time you might enjoy before you may need a scooter full time.
Whether using rollator or scooter, have a great trip and enjoy yourself!

All good advice here - the only thing I would add is that *if* you find you might need to rent an ECV while in the Parks - and you realize you might want it for the balance of your time at WDW, you can also call and have most "outside" vendors deliver one directly to you at the front of the Park. That gives you the option to use it for the rest of your day - including that loooooooong walk from the Park to the buses, and from the buses to your room.

I can't say this often enough - An ECV (or *any* mobility device) is a tool - use all of the tools at your disposal to have the very best possible trip you can! It's your vacation, and the goal is to arrive home MORE RESTED and in LESS PAIN than when you left, right? 🙂

Thank you very much for helpful info!

I used one a few trips. The worst thing for me was holding it in the bus and the rough terrain I believe in Liberty square it was. It rattled my brains going through there. I loved having it to sit on for parades - when that was a thing :(. Now busses would be easy because no one standing in front of you.

Great idea about renting a scooter in park if need be. I hadn’t thought of that. We won’t be traveling for quite a while, but in the meantime I am going to try walking longer distances to be prepared for the parks. Thanks sgain
as I said earlier if you can try a local theme park to see how it goes even just walking around a large indoor mall. I will say the park rentals are slower and harder to move in the crowds than off site. also think about how much walking you ae going to be doing at your resort esp when you get back at night after a day in the park

Thanks! I am going to give it a try on our next visit.
