Unless anyone comes up with a better idea, Email works for me too. Actually, I'm one up on you all, I've seen Laurie and her family's picture and met Sandy! But of course, I want it all. I'll PM my email to y'all.

As for meeting onboard (the 'other' board...)
I'm going to the party store for some lime green plastic lei's. That sounds pretty cute. Name tags wouldn't hurt either, good idea Sandy. How about seeing if we can find each other the first night at that 'shoving off party' or whatever its called. I want some high five's from you all, to celebrate that the day actually came and we made it! You experienced cruisers could describe a good specific area, right?
Then on the 2nd or 3rd day, (once those of us with kids to farm out have gotten them adapted to the childcare clubs,) we can meet up for a serious wine tasting party, maybe before the first dinner shift?
Just throwing out ideas, feel free to improve upon them (please do)
I'm getting all excited again! I was flying high after booking, then it leveled off a bit, and now your enthusiasm is getting me all goofy happy again.

SEE you all soon!
Lori:wave:

Goodness!!! What a chatty group. I've registered(?) for the 10/19 cruise in the spring and haven't logged into the boards since. DH and DS (age 5) are looking forward to the cruise. Any other five year olds going?

Questions:

I've got two nice gowns for the trip (they're somewhere in the back of the closet). Probably couldn't get husband into a tux if I paid him, have to pack a suit for him. Problem is what to dress the 5 y.o. in. Could buy him a suit and use it again later for the holidays and church. In the past, I'd try to get him to wear a tie but he'd just whine. Anyone have alternative solutions?

DCL's airfare seems a bit pricey from BWI. If I obtain my own air, can I still get the disney transfers. This is our second cruise, and it was SO convenient for disney to pick us up, carry the bags and everything.

What about the trip insurance. Everyone/anyone got that? This close to the cruise and with no medical history, isn't insurance really a waste?

On last year's cruise, I met several nice moms through the discussion boards and we met (just the girls) for one night after dinner. Any plans like that yet?

Now, how many days/hours/minutes left?:Pinkbounc

We are in the reservation shuffle now.
Caribbean Beach Resort is closign for remodeling in October...
We are waiting to see if we are offered anything else. Anyone else in this boat. Might just go back to the Radisson Resort Parkway.
Hmmm.

All of the ideas for our "get-togethers" sound great at this point!!!

Krista

Boy, did you guys get chatty all of a sudden!

I am beginning to feel better, but I am still dizzy

E-mailing pictures sounds good. I did that with someone in April so we new what each other looked like. Last October, we all made nametags with our screen names and real names. It also got us started off right with the crew, a conversation starter.

I have 4 formal gowns, a tea length gown and a velvet cocktail dress. I will bring 2 of the gowns and where them for both cruises. DH will be in his tux :smooth: We like to dress up!

I was going to order some fun stuff from the Oriental Trading Company to bring, but I haven't done it yet. Maybe I still will. This may include: bubbles, tropical tattoes, other tropical stuff. The stuff in the catalogue is really cheap!

Final payment is 8/20!

I can't believe that it is just around the corner!! I called our travel agent and made the final payment today. We had some extra money kicking around the checkbook this week to I threw on an extra $250 for credit on the ship. Along with the original $200 shipboard credit that we got when we booked, we are off to a great start!! (I am sure that we will have NO PROBLEM spending) :p I am up for emailing pictures or whatever! We are going to try to get down there by Thurs nite or Fri AM and maybe attempt to go to Kennedy Space Center. Staying Friday nite at the Radisson. Anyone else staying there??

My DH is planning on wearing a suit for the formal nights. Oh well.
Is the wine tasting just for the Moms? When are you doing that?

I better get back to work and off the boards......

Laurie :bounce:

Laurie - the wine night is for all of us.

Strissel - my 7yr DS has a blue blazer with an emblem on it, that he thinks makes him look like a ships captain. (Looks like a college preppie to me...) He used to wear ties to church. I attached a length of elastic to the ends of a clip on and just put it on over his head, then the collar covered the elastic. It's loose enough to not be felt by him, and stretches that extra bit when looking up or whatever. I don't know if I'll even bring any along though. He hasn't worn one in years now.

Diana - are you still thinking about the Golden Eagle Catamaran?
I want to do it, but need to investigate the pros and cons of a morning over afternoon trip. What do you think?

Anyone - What night is it that we're up late for a party, then have to get up grossly early for an immigration check or something? Was that the St. Marten day, or St. Thomas?

Cheers, Lori

emailing pics sounds good to me too!

Lori - I think we are doing the golden eagle catarmaran in the afternoon. Will shop in the morning with the kids - St. Maarten has great shopping!!!!! Tropical outfits around $5-10 if I remember right. Cheap anyway! Then it will be back to the ship for lunch and kids go into clubs and the ADULTS only are going on the catamaran! yeah!!!! My reasoning is: not sure how much the kids will spend in the clubs (the 3 girls anyway) so I want to have SOME adult time therefore: excursion without them, Palo's dinner and one spa treatment for me. Other than those things if they want to be with us it's ok. Last time the 4 year old didn't spend much time in the club BUT BUT BUT her 2 younger sisters (then 2 and 1) were with us and she knew it so............. I don't want to force them to stay if they don't want but if they want to stay I certainly will NOT keep them out ;) ;) ;)

My DS was 8 last time and he never wore a tie or jacket or even a button down collar shirt! I took 2 pair nice pants for him and several golf shirts and nice t shirts. After dinner he changed out of his good pants so they could be worn again (and again!). It worked out so well will be doing the same this year (he's 10). I do have a button down shirt for him this time - he is older - and maybe a tie for formal night but no jacket. He looked very smart in those things. (wore tennis shoes also - no good shoes for him!)

We will purchase trip insurance to cover the cost of the trip as you never know but am still debating the medical insurance. Our coverage here will cover the costs up to what it would cost here which of course would never be enough. We are thinking about that one.

Laurie - we are staying at the Radisson on Friday night also. We fly into Jacksonville around 2 so figure we'll get to the Rad around 5:30 or so. My parents won't get there until later as my dad won't be done at work until at least 5 or 6 and from Savannah it's around 5 hours I think.

St. Maarten night - tropical party STARTS at 10pm and you are up early for immigration the next day in St. Thomas. They didn't do an immigration check in Oct. 2000 so that is new for us - yuck!

Just got back from lunch with Lori. Got to meet her adorable kids. Very well behaved kids, I might add. Lori is a delightful person. We have met only two times and I feel I have known her for a long time. Thank you, Lori, for posting the pics. When my family gets home from work, I will have them help me download. I told you I am a computer dummy! Thanks for all the input regarding the mens attire. Ted doesn't own a suit but he does have a jacket. I think that is the best I will get out of him. We do purchase trip insurance as we had a friend break a leg that required surgery the day before they left. Needless to say, they didn't buy insurance and lost thousands of dollars. Sounds like the Radisson will have a lot of us. We will be there, too. Checking in approx. 5:00 pm.

:bounce: I want to go to the rad - dis - uuunnn!!!!!:bounce:

Denine, thanks for the picture! I had imagined you looking different. LOL I'm glad to see a face to the personality now.

Sandy, will you answer to "Aunt Sandy" for my kids???

Did everyone get my PM?
Later girls. I gotta get some sleep tonight.
Lori

Thanks for posting the pics, Lori! I will dig through my photos tonight and try to have someone at work help me send them tomorrow. You guys are lucky that you can get together before the trip!!! Everyone sounds so nice  !! Regarding the wine tasting, is anyone into red wine? I am more of a vodka/gin and tonic girl, but when it comes to wine I like a cabernet or a merlot. Are we doing this on the ship or the night before??

More later....

Laurie

Ha ha

Our doom and gloom with the Caribbean Beach has turned out wonderfully - way to go Disney!
We are now staying at the Wilderness Lodge for $10 more a night.
Will be at the Dolphin for 8-nights post cruise. You think I will have had enough by then. Anyone know of any discount tickets?LOL.

Laurie I am so into red wine. Husband will only drink red or crown and coke. I will take an occasional Chardonnay or martini. Rum is fun for cruising too. Gee, I'm really not an alchy..

Just wanted to bump us up some.
Krista

Love Red wine also. Pino Noir and Merlot are favorites.

Way to go on the wilderness lodge Krista! I don't think it's possibe to overdose on Mickey with this crowd.
Krista, I'll forward on your picture to Laurie, Sandy, Denine and Diana for you. Those are whose emails I have, OK?

Second night wine party OK?

I've downloaded the pics, now I just need to look at them!

Sunday night should be fine for the wine party. I am not into red wine, especially not merlot. Everytime we try a red wine and don't like it, it is always merlot!

The final payment is made :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

You are really on your way.
I can't wait until our final payment is done!
We are waiting until the 16th so it goes on November's bill. LOL
Krista

I agree with you, Denine. Red wine isn't for me. I guess that is why I like champagnes. Doesn't taste like booze. But it is good that we all have different taste. Something for everyone.

Funny you asked me, Lori, if I would answer to Aunt Sandy. Just ask MY kids. That is pretty much what I respond to. It would be an honor.

Congratulations Krista!! What luck! We had ressies for POR in Jan but they closed it so they had to transfer us to CBR. They did not offer us any kind of a deal. Take me with you!!!!!

Have to tell you that my DD got her docs for her Sept cruise a couple of days ago. Boy, was I jealous!

Thanks for the pics, Lori. It was fun seeing Ben. I figured those kids had to have a good looking Dad! Krista, your picture is so cute. Clare is adorable. My DD enjoyed the pics, also.

My DH loves red wine, I like white. Am trying to learn to drink red but am not there yet....

Thanks Lori for forwarding Krista's picture. You guys are so cute! Hey Lori, everyone seems to have seen your picture but me? I feel so left out

Remember Sunday night is formal night and they take formal pictures before dinner and the Captain's Gala with free drinks. I'm sure we can get together that night just have to plan around the other stuff. When is everyone's dinner seating? We have early and are hoping they don't change the times on us!

The Wilderness Lodge looks fabulous! AND it's a boat ride from MK! That's great!!!!!

Oh, I am getting the bug bad....

Thanks for all of your sweet comments about Clare. We love her!

The family pics are great, it is so fun seeing everyone. Father/Daughter ones just make me want to cry.

I'm up for the party anytime.

We have early seating, but will definitely switch to late if the times stay so early.

Have a great weekend everyone, we are going to enjoy some unseasonably cool nights here in Arkansas.

PS I am a DIS veteran now!!! Wow.

Krista:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

I would love to have wine tasting during Sunday afternoon. That way we don't miss any shows. You know, Diana, I would love to acquire the taste for red, also. Just don't see it coming. Ted likes it, I don't. Go figure. Congratulation, Krista---a true DIS veteran.

See, this is why I must 'Network' with others who are more on the ball than I! Diana, (1) I lost track of those downloads, will send asap. (2) The Gala and getting all gussied up could take awhile. Hummm, just how early IS too early to start drinking? If I start too early, I'll be sleeping in my dessert:o How long before dinner would those Sunday night activities take?

Maybe we can just meet on that second evening but keep it relatively brief, not open everything. Otherwise, we're waiting till the trip is half over!

Denine, what's the best evening for a wine get-together???

I made some name buttons for my gang, but they look pretty dopey (no Disney pun intended) they do have lime green ribbons hanging from them. Between those and the fact that you've all seen our pic's, I think we have a chance of meeting up at 'sail away' (I looked up the term!)

Question for everyone !!! Do you prefer to be at the party during sail away, or at a rail watching the dolphins jumping and Florida drifting away?
I'm thinking I'd rather be at a rail with a view of both, if such a place exists, if not, then I'd opt for a nice view of the water.
It would be great to have a visit on the first night. I'm trying to remember that we might all drift our own ways as the trip progresses. I don't know !!! I'm New At This !!!

OK, I'm sending the pic right now. See ya!!
