Hi guys, just checking in. Bonnie, you are almost done. Very proud of you. You did a lot of work in a little bit of time. You need to pat yourself on the back and enjoy life now.;) Do we have junk? DO WE HAVE JUNK? After 27 years of marriage and two kids, YES we have junk. The rule of the house is when the girls move out, their toys do, too. That would clean out a whole closet. Of course, Ted and I aren't perfect either.

Susan, you may not think that you are getting through to Turner but I bet you are. When he gets a little older (and slower), I think he will realize what mom was trying to get across. Right now all he wants is to be done and go play. When grades start impacting him, I think he will slow down. Watching my nephew in his early years, proved that to me. He, too, was a bright student but he didn't want to do homework so he just sailed right through it. I just sat with him and told him to read ME the instructions BEFORE picking up his pencil. AND then he could proceed. A lot of people just send the kids in another room and tell them to get it done. My opinion is to teach them proper homework techniques early on so they have a sound base and then when they get older turn it over to them. It is extra work for you but in the long run it works. Don't DO their homework just BE there. Our girls would do their homework the minute they walked into the house and at the kitchen table. I would just prepare dinner while they did it and then when Ted came home he took it over. We sat with our girls for a very long time. Probably until 4th grade. They graduated with honors and scholarships.

Unfortunately, the kids in the neighborhood aren't chasing a ball. They are playing hide and go seek around anything in anyone's yard. Including squeezing under and around our 36 ft. fifth wheel. They are so bold as to walk on your front porch. They are out after dark on a school night. Like around 9 or 10. Bet they don't do their homework!

Better go child proof my house. It is about time for my little one. Have a great day!

Hey Ted, how about fishing line all around your yard about knee high. They run into your yard and get tripped, they won't do it again. Garry says get the invisible fence for your yard and put the collars on the kids. If they enter your yard, they get zapped.

Have a Great day all!

Hehe...aren't we being a little naive, Ted? Sandy's nervous? Think about it for a second...you do have life insurance, don't you?

Buy a large dog and teach him to go in your front yard? Or better yet, theirs!

Seriously, I would try and talk to the parents again and express your concerns about damage to your property, as well as the kids respecting your privacy. Drop a hint along the way about involving the police. If talking doesn't work, then call the police. Even if they can't catch the kids in the act, their parents will probably get tired of seeing the police at their house.

This is where the stubborn streak in Turner comes in. He tells me "I already read it. I don't need to read it again." But, Sandy, thank you for the kind words and encouragement. You made my evening. I won't give up and I won't let him give up either! In fact, just a quick post and then off to quiz him for his Science and Social Studies tests he has tomorrow, planets and the Solar System for Science and the settlement of Jamestown for Social Studies!

Have a great evening everyone!

Hi guys, I think we will just get a pellet gun. Just kidding. Don't believe in guns. We live too close to Columbine for reminders on what guns do. I lost a relative to murder in New York and lost a friend at Columbine who we watched grow up. I am afraid to contact the parents for fear of retaliation and vandalism. One set of parents I swear are "high" all day long and really don't care for the boys. Sad story, so I try to have patience but it is sooo hard when I know that hide and go seek will change to something else when they get older and probably more destructive. If they are this bold now, it can only get worse. We have a friend in the sheriff's dept. that patrols this neighborhood so am thinking about talking to him about it.

You sound like a loving mom, Susan! It is hard sometimes to keep your cool over homework.

Yes, Garry, the life insurance is paid up. Thanks for the idea. What a way to get rich!!!!!

Ted won't be on as much now because a police agent just got fired over internet stuff and for some reason Ted doesn't want to get fired too. He will check in periodically at home. Once his feet hit our floors, he just doesn't want to do anything else. Time will tell how often he checks in. He is watching a movie right now.

Sweet dreams!

Susan, glad to hear you made it through another session of home work with Turner. :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: I know that can be a real challenging. Sandy and I have spent a lot of late nights up with the girls helping them with their home work. Even when your children do will at school there are a lot of times when you have to be there for them if nothing else for encouragement. That was great to hear that your year-end deadlines where done one week early and that you get Friday afternoon off because of it. That is always a good way to start a long weekend. I wish I could take Paul’s advice and use the BB gun but know the end result would be worse than the kids running across the yard. Guess I will have to just ask them again to stay off the front yard and stay away from the trailer.

Bonnie, sorry to hear about the ceilings and how you don’t think you can get your son to do it for you. You should remind him who helped him paint his house. I wasn’t sure if you were asking for more junk for your closets or not if you are I can look through my garage and probably send you some things if you need more. Or better yet I can personally bring them, at your expense of course, and while I’m there I would be willing to paint your ceilings. Glad to hear that your plumbing is fixed I sure that is relief. It’s amazing what you take for granite until you don’t have it.

Julie, that fishing line around the yard sounds like a good idea except that it would probably only trip mw since I would forget about fishing line and would end be tangled up in the line my self. Garry suggestion might work as long as I could convince the kids that the collar they need to wear is a new fad and that I was willing to help them to get in with the in crowd, showing my age, and buying the collar for them. Hum might work with these kids.

Gary, didn’t think about the life insurance. You think Sandy would do that? Na she keeps telling me she loves me. May be that is why she keeps telling Bonnie that “we would help her paint the ceiling”. The big dog might work I did that once when we were watching Sandy’s brothers dog when a solicitor came to the door and I said jokingly to the dog “get him” which promptly the dog started for the door. Will never do that again. I didn’t know that I could move so fast. Seriously I will ask the kids to stay away from the trailer an off the front yard. Don’t think it will do any good to talk to the parents since you can hear the mother yelling for them to come home around 9:00 pm. They prefer to have their kids pester someone else instead of them. Will also look to the police if the talk doesn’t work.

Getting late so have to go. Have a good day tomorrow everybody.

Just so he isn't following in the 'keystrokes' of Tracy Baker, huh? LOL Yea, I can just see those steaming hot emails you and Ted could be sending eachother every day.;)

Just wanted to say hi before hitting the hay. We took Makenzie to see "Disney's Princesses on Ice" tonight. We LOVED it. The look on Makenzie's face when it started was worth every penny! She did con us out of a Belle "action figure" and once we got that for her, she asked what did we get for Garry (the Big Guy stayed with my parents since we figured that he couldn't sit still for the entire show). So we did end up getting him a Beast action figure.
The show was very good. It hit all the princesses in the first half:
Jasmine, Aurora (aka Beauty), Mulan, Ariel, Snow White, and Belle. The second half of the show was cinderella. Mickey, Minnie, and Goofy also made several appearances too. The costumes were wonderful.

Oh to be a little girl again! She had a great time and we had a great time watching her! It was a fantastic night.

Be on more tomorrow! Take Care!

Aaww, Princesses. She must have been SO cute, Julie!

Ted and Sandy...

Ooo I know this one!
Well, I guess it's a bit different since your neighbor kids are in perpetual motion, but... About 4 years ago, a 15 year old neighbor boy would hang out on my lawn talking with his buddies, because their lawn (renters) was dead and full of not very soft weeds. The problem with using mine was that the crowd grew daily and they'd leave matches behind which of course my kids would find in a second. So one day, I just went out and sat right with them. Asking 'how's things', telling them about my day, asking what they liked about the style of clothes they wore, telling them what I liked about my clothes ... really exciting conversation, but hey, it was on my turf after all, I guess I could talk about whatever I wanted. Humm, they started hanging out in cars or on their sidewalk. Oh well. I went back to talking to my dog.
Maybe, as the nights warm up, you can sit out in your lawn chairs drinking a nice cup of tea (don't forget the sandals and socks, kids are really impressed with that) Impress that when they're on your property, they're in your world, and you might come and join them at any time.

Note to myself.... Thank whatever old neighbors from my childhood are still living, for being so tolerant. (I remember those hide and seek games and anywhere not involving breaking and entering counted as a fair spot to hide) Ah the old days ... before lawsuits from self-injured trespassers.

My "COOKIES" are going crazy. I can never bring up the last posting & have to keep going back to get any postings. Ted: Thank you for offering your help, but I am so computer illiterate that a phone call wouldn't do it because I would not understand what you tell me to do.

I love some of the suggestions to get kids off your lawn but I think just going out in your boxer, socks & sandals would discourage them from coming back! Ha-Ha.

Poor Bonnie. I have 16 foot ceilings in my den & put the ladder on my kitchen table to hang the border. Can you believe it? Necessity of the Mother of Invention.

Dodger had me up at 4:00 A.M. this morning & we are having little snow flurries right now. Well I am off to work (I leave at 6:00 A.M.).

Hope you all have a great day and remember GO EAGLES:bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

Toodles:sunny:  :earsgirl: Jeanne Russian-Wolf

Lori - I like your style!!! I can't believe it worked for you. I would have thought they would have just had you join right in with them since you are so friendly.

Sandy - I hope something works for you guys. Do talk to your sherrif's dept. friend. It can't hurt.

Ted - Don't get in trouble at work. You need the job to keep paying for Sandy's honey do list items and vacations! We'll miss new topics from you. Garry will just have to go back to lead role.

Jeannie - you got to get those cookies fixed!!! GO EAGLES!!:bounce:

Julie - glad to hear you guys had a great time. Give Makenzie a big hug from me.

Garry - how's the back? You haven't given us an update lately. You're now responsible for the topic of the day again.

Bonnie - Go back to my idea to forget the ceilings. Who's going to look up anyway???

Everyone have a great day. Turner has hockey evaluations (sort of like try-outs) tonight for the new season so I probably won't be on the computer or if I am it will be late.

Have a great day!

Good morning everyone

I am feeling better and even went out in the yard Monday and pruned some bushes and racked leaves....couldn't believe how hot I got in January.

Dick left yesterday for Ohio to go to his brothers wedding...I have a weekend scrapbook retreat Fri-Sun. I had my plans made first so I guess Dick didn't want to stay home with the dogs by himself...lol.

Gary-what are we going to do with you and your back? I feel sorry for you because when your back hurts you hurt all over...do you get crabby? My husband does....lol

Julie-I guess I should get some recipes to you....do you have very many yet?

Susan-Glad you are feeling better...you have had it a long time. I am just glad I got sick before I got on the ship or I would think there is something about going on a cruise....

Bonnie-how is your ceiling coming? I think I would either hire it done or forget it....l6 ft is too high! Sometimes don't you wish your son was little again so you could spank him.....kids can be a joy or a trial at times....

I remember homework but Dick loved to help the kids...good thing as it wasn't my cup of tea. He always thought school was so important and he must have gotten through to the kids because they all ended up going to college after they were married and had kids of their own and did really, really well...took after their dad thank goodness.

Scrapbookers, how are your albums coming along? I am going to work on Patti's this weekend and hopefully get it finished. I was doing so good getting pictures printed on the computer and had to go buy a new color ink cartridge....and I can't get it in the printer.....I have tried everything but standing on my head. Dick called last night and he said it should go in easy...right, if he was here it would.

Sandy-Maybe you should build a fence around your house...when I was little you didn't even think about setting foot in someone else's yard....now kids don't care even if you are home. We don't have many kids in our neighborhood, just deer. I couldn't believe it when I saw 7 deer in the yard across the street not long ago. We live right off a main street and it is so built up around here you wonder where they came from. Dick kept telling me we had deer here because he would see tracks in the flower bed in front...but I thought he was seeing things....a carry over from his hunting days.

Ok, Bonnie, now I have posted....aren't you sorry you got after me....it has ended up a book...lol

Have a great day everyone!

oh, ps-I didn't meet anyone on the last cruise as nice as you guys...even if I didn't see most of you....lol

See what happens---Ted makes me go to bed early and he gets on and writes a page. I heard him in the computer room laughing so I got out of bed to check what was so funny. He love Garry's life insurance thought. Gee Garry, you should know me better than that by now. Sweet Sandy. Yup, that's what they call me--sweet Sandy! Ok, ok, Lori, I do have an alias, Nervous Nellie. That is why I hate ladders. Shame on you, Jeanne. A ladder on a table to reach 16' ceilings. Oh my gosh. Was that ever safe! Improvise, I know. It works!

Sally, you really sounded perky this morning. Glad to hear it. 7 deer, huh? You must be on the west side of I25!

OH MY GOSH, LORI !! YOU ARE TOOOOOOOO FUNNY !! I love the way you solved your kid problem. I can just picture the kids with a confused look. I love it. We have a smoker down the street so when she rounded our corner she would ALWAYS throw out her cigarettes in front of our house and pull into her driveway. I got real tired of cleaning up after her so I picked one up and threw it in her driveway. That was the very last time she did it.

Thanks Susan for talking to Ted about the ramifications of losing his job. I would hate to lose out of vacations and the honey do's keep him out of trouble.:D

Julie, I bet Makenzie was so cute last night. Those beautiful eyes lighting up when she saw the princesses. How priceless. I remember those days! Our daughters eyes just light up now with more expensive things like cruises for example.

Stacey just booked her honeymoon for WDW and the Eastern Magic. Prices went up really, really bad. It was over 1000.00 per person for a cat 11 for the third week of Sept. That does not include the stay at WDW. OUCH!

Gotta go help Heidi. She just let some young punks in supposedly selling magazines to earn points for a cruise. She knows better. She told me to chill plus I can hear she is buying. Oh well, it is HER money. At least the guys know I am here. Should have seen the looks on their face when I showed up in the living room. Yea, she couldn't find the magazine she wanted so she didn't buy!!!!!!!!!!!!! They are gone. whewwww. Nothing like play by play action.

Gotta run.

No Sandy, I live on the east side of Academy about 2 blocks from the intersection of Constitution and Academy...not a place you would expect to see deer....

Hey, I want you to know I now have the Christmas decorations out of the kitchen and packed up....now in the middle of organizing drawers and cabinets. I may be late putting Christmas away but I am going to be way ahead of spring cleaning....lol

Hello Everyone!!

We have had a busy week so far. Like everyone else, we have had way TOO MUCH HOMEWORK!!! I never thought that at 40 years old I would still have SPELLING WORDS!! Today we got off easy and finished everything by 4:00!! :bounce: :bounce:

Hey Ted & Sandy -- Regarding your "yard problem"..... I was picturing a solution for you that is straight from the movie "Caddy Shack". Kind of a MINE FIELD in the yard, with Ted crawling commando style peeking around the corner of your house ready to detonate!!

When is the wine tasting??????

Hi Laurie, we just crossed posted. Hope you are doing great with the exception of yucky homework. Spelling was a breeze for me. It was the awful math that Ted had to do.

We are looking forward to the wine party, too. Let's set a time!

I just checked when Bonnie made her last post and it was the 13th. Pretty much two days ago. If she doesn't post soon, I might just call and check on her. The 16 foot ceiling nightmare is coming to mind. It isn't like her not to post. Even when she went on strike a week or so ago she couldn't stay away.
