Roll Call for August vacationers!

We're going to DL for the first time in August 2009 and would love to see how many other DISers will be there too! So, don't be shy...say hi!

Unfortunately we'll only be there a few days so I'm not sure if we'll be planning any type of DIS meets, but if anyone wants to use this thread to plan a DIS meet, that's fine with me!

I'm also looking for people to participate in a photopass share, so if there's anyone interested, let me know. (I'm not sure how to coordinate one myself, so hopefully there will be someone who knows how to)

We're going the first week of August. It will be my son's first trip and also his 5th birthday! We are all very excited.

If we can make it financially(won't do a trip unless it is all cash) we will be there from the 15th -22nd. My birthday is on the 20th. Lost two of my jobs this last month so it may be a stretch.

i totally relate with wanting to do the whole trip "cash only". that's the only way we ever go, and it is so much less stressful. once the trip is over, we know all of the expense is over, too.

with practice, we've gotten good at saving up for an upcoming DLR trip...we started 5 months ahead of time this year, which makes it a lot less stressful - less money to put away per month. last year we saved it all in only 2 months, and that was not easy.

Right now we're planning the weekend of August 8th. Since we love so much going during the week, we might do a Wednesday and come home that Saturday.

We're going to celebrate our 6 year anniversary! (dating of course! )

I've been looking at hotels and even though we're looking at a stay during the week, the prices are still pretty high. That's summer, I guess!

we went for 5 days in august of '07. it was both very hot, and very crowded. but as long as we were there for opening we could get about 4 hours in before the crowds grew, and then we went to the hotel to swim/lunch/nap until about 6 before heading back to the parks. that's why i'm so glad the summer hours run till midnight!

I you want you can change our dates to July 31-Aug 6th.

The last time I went to Disneyland was in 1996 and I was in 8th grade. It was the second week in January so it wasn't super busy and I pretty much got to do whatever I wanted.

This year I am excited to experience it through my son's eyes. I didn't go on any of the rides in Fantasyland when I went so there is a lot I haven't seen at all.

We're going again this year, in August this time so the kids don't miss any school. Its a budget trip for us, I bought AP's in October (Costco special so I got a good deal) so we can use those again. Plane tickets were made using miles, so no cost there either. So, all we need for this trip is a hotel room and food. I have a room reserved at HOJO, although there isn't an entertainment rate for the time. I'll keep checking and see if we can save even more if a rate is released.

We decided a number of years ago that if the money isn't there we do not do it. Had to cancel last years trip just because of that. College expenses and taxes kill us every year.

My husband and I will be there Aug. 20-25. He wants to go to a computer game convention and I agreed to go along as long as we spent as much time at DLR as we do at the convention.
I've never been in August, and I am hoping that the fact that it's the end of the month will make it less crowded, but I'm sure I'll be wrong. Oh well, I'll take any Disney I can get!

Jack, I hope you are able to save up. So sorry to hear about your job losses. Hopefully something else comes along to make up for losing those jobs. There's no better place to spend a birthday than a Disney park!!!

We've been to WDW in August and that was fifteen years ago...we'll never do Florida in August again....we'll see how DL in August works for us.

I hope the entertainment rate kicks in for you! There's nothing better than a BUDGET trip to Disney!
