Surprised nobody posted this.. it was all over local news.. It happened in august but just hitting news now (including surprising disney that didn't know it happened).

Personally, I've been driving when the fireworks go off for star wars and stuff rains down on your car when they work right. I was surprised they weren't closing the road and how close that fireworks launch site is to that road..

The old launch site was just as close or closer to the road. The new launch site just happens to be across the street.

Brings up something I recently wondered, do they close the road that leads out past the Contemporary, Space Mountain and the Monorail/Train storage during Wishes? Those fireworks launch right by the road

And as for stuff raining down, we've had that in MK back around New Fantasy Land when the wind is just right (or wrong, depending on your POV)

we will probably see a lawsuit out of this. People sue over everything these days. Including being clumsy and tripping over a stair :rolleyes1

From what I have read and seen they do. That could be wrong

I've seen it blocked by police during the fireworks. Not sure if it is for wishes but the other special fireworks that 360 the side launch stations are on the side of the road. They aren't temporary if you ever go down that road or maybe take one of the multi-park tours (steam trains, backstage, etc) you will pass them if you pay attention.

They use those for Wishes too. I figured they had to close it but never drive that way during fireworks so wasn't ever sure.

The road the Wishes launch pad is on is closed every night of Wishes. The launch is literally feet from the road. It is however a slightly less used road. During special Wishes where fireworks are more 360, temp launch "trailers" are on additional roads such as by the Contemporary. Those nights that road is also closed down. Again not a heavily used road except for CMs.

You do know that's how auto insurance works though right? Assuming the person had auto insurance, if there was any damage, the insurance company will sue to get the money they paid out back. There will be a suit whether or not the driver pursues one.

Quite frankly, I think that's exactly something you sue over. Mainly because it keeps companies on their toes about not being negligent and making safer decisions.

Beyond that, I think this is something people would sue over even if it were another defendant that weren't Disney. If you're shooting fireworks on 4th of July and don't know what you're doing and damage my car, I'm taking you to court...
